Re: Mid Boost- how does it affect the EQ internally?

He has it backwards.

When not engaged, the response is a traditional Marshall sweep.

When it's engaged, the mid dip is 'filled in'.

Re: Marshall Vintage Modern: From The Museum Steve Dawson Interview!!!

We actually shot a lot more footage, talking about the mid boost etc. but it didn't make it to the final edit.

All in all I'm happy that I finally managed to lay the 'two channel' debate to rest and explain exactly how it was designed to be used.

The noise floor of the amp is pretty high compared to other high-ish gain amps I have owned in the past, not sure if this normal for this design.
That is not normal. It should be quieter than most high gain amps

I believe R6 is 10M and R9 a 10K? Does that sound right? And what wattage are they rated at?
Thanks for any help! - Mark
R6 is 10M 1/4W
R9 is 10K 1W

Re: Vintage Modern 2266 fx loop volume drop

There should be no volume drop when engaging the loop.

It's my guess that FET3 needs to be replaced.

Re: 100JH output

The Super100JH is the same as the JTM45/100 and the Vintage Modern 2466 in that it outputs about 77W clean and 100W when driven. Thus you will be safe with a 100W cab. My tech Just checked my SUPER JH100 last week, he told the amp cant put out more then 50watts...all tubes are ok, It had a bad 33uf...

Hey Steve, is there a link yet to the YouTube video you did a few weeks ago? I haven't seen anything yet.
I'll have to make an enquiry as to what's happening with that Surf.

New song from Geordie

The UK has taken a pounding over the last 3 or 4 years.

Here's an appeal to our indomitable national pride.

Just released on the usual streaming platforms.

Re: Marshall Vintage Modern max volume!

The sensitivity of whatever speakers are loaded in the cab they run the amp with will also have a major agenda on the perceived volume.

It's all academic anyway, the amp should be loud enough for anyone, just play, true story. :cowbell
