Re: Why doesn't Marshall include popular "mods" in productio

I was never a fan of the G12Cs. Used to play gigs with a Dr Z Route 66 similar to a JTM 45. When I'd crank it up with gain, it always seemed to have some kind of top end sizzle or fizzle that drove me insane. As for the mods, I can't see any need for them on the VM it sounds so good. Anything you do...

Re: Overdrive or Boost for Lead boost?

I like a Fulltome 69 fuzz into a Fulltone Fullerive 2 clean boost. It cleans up the fuzz and gives a really organic, natural tone. Also love the OCD with it. Surf's right. Master on 8, detail around 5-6 on HDR or 7 in LDR mode. Then control compression with volume control.

Re: Cabinet help???!!!

Frank, I got an email from Celestion who says do not worry about db rating, they say Greenbacks and V30s are a perfect blend. I also just got off the phone with my buddy Stephen. He said all his Marshall cabs have V30s on the bottom and Greenbacks on top. Said it is his favorite Marshall cab speake...

Ah shoot, I use boost pedals all the time with mine. Sounds great in LDR or HDR.

Re: Some other new gear to be launched at NAMM

Its cool they made a Blackmore Strat, but what kills me is they didn't make U shaped necks in '69. The real ones don't feel anything like a CS 69. They're C shaped and don't feel anything like the U shape and the radius is all wrong. I have no idea why Fender won't come out with accurate late '60s S...

Re: Cabinet help???!!!

ah no they dont mix well because Greenbacks are only 25 watts while V30s are 70 watts. The load doesnt balance out. I only use V30s. I have 1960av cab that I run the 2466 in stereo with the JMP 100. Sounds awesome! BTW, here's the VM into Marshall Mode Four MF400 Cab loaded with G12K100s. [youtube]h...

Re: Solo/Lead boost, other issues????

You don't really need to master the volume control for solo boosts. I run into a Fulltone '69 Fuzz and if I want a boost, I kick on my Fulldrive and if I want to really go over the top, I kick on the new Fulltone Secret Freq. Its the same as if you have something like and OCD running into the tube s...

Re: The Vintage Modern is THICK, not THIN!!!

AH no bro. The JMP amps have a much weaker transformer and EL34s. The VM has a massive transformer and beefier KT66 tubes with tons more rich tones available. Though I must say my JMP 100 kicks ass too! Don't think it's as much a metal amp though as the VM could be with the extra preamp gain stage t...

Re: The Vintage Modern is THICK, not THIN!!!

Yeah, don't believe everything you read from amp modders either. Ther VM 2466 is the fattest, richest sounding current production amp on the planet bar none. Listen to some of my clips on here and you can hear it. A lot of that is due to the fact that it has a hybrid fender for cleans and a JTM 45/1...

That's cool as hell! Nice for venues where you need to keep the volume down. Nice if it came in a 4x12 cab.

Re: David Bowie Announces New Album, anyone care?

Not sure but Earl Slick is one badass player himself and I believe that both him and Bowie have been clean and sober now for over 30 years since '79 I think. Back to my previous post, before that, he was down to 95 pounds from the coke. Saw an interview where he said after marrying Imam, that he had...
