Re: Advice on 1960a JCM900 cab

Reviving and older post here, but yesterday I paid $300 for this 1960a Lead cabinet . At lower volume with my 1959HW it seems to sound best with a DS-1 in front. I didn’t care for the DS-1 when in front of my 2061x. With that amp, I always use a Beano Boost, Micro amp, And RC Boost. I have to wait u...

Re: Problem with 2061x

So as I’m reinstalling the chassis, this piece of solder falls out onto the floor. I decide to plug it in and see what happens and now it’s working just fine and sounding just as great as always. This head gets gigged so maybe some old solder got knocked loose and grounded out on something ? I’m rea...

Re: Problem with 2061x

A few snapshots of the circuit. Im not sure, but I think I see some discoloration near the input jacks.
I did have the channels jumped when the problem first started. Do those little white things look like they’re cooked ?
Everything else seems to look okay.

Re: Problem with 2061x

Upon looking at the schematic it would seem that if the bias circuit was faulty it would affect both tubes as the cathodes on both tubes are tied together. There isn't anything in this amp, it is as bare bones as you can get. I am curious if you are getting voltage leaking across either C15-16. Hav...

Re: Problem with 2061x

Sounds like an issue with bias. Can you do any trouble shooting on electronics? I agree with you that somethings up with the cathode resistor bias circuit. I’m not good at trouble shooting electronic components but I’m hoping someone here might be able point out the cathode resistor and related par...

Problem with 2061x

I’m hoping someone here can help me diagnose a problem I’m having with my 2061x. The left el84 tube closest to the V2 12ax7 seems to overheat, redplate, then the amp loses all sound. First I switched guitars,, same problem,, it powers up with sound then soon overheats and loses all sound. Changed el...

Re: New Origin Demo

I’m curious if and how these hold up against the 2061x.

Advice on 1960a JCM900 cab

It's for sale in my city, $400. I'd consider buying if it's a good matchup with my 1959HW.
What y'all think ? Or should I hold off until I can afford a better cab like the BX OR BHW ?

Re: I got to crank the 2061X all the way up live

When playing out, I usually get several compliments on the tone from my 2061x and matching cab.

Re: Current Marshall Amps, great lineup?

I currently own both the 1959HW and the 2061x. I prefer the tone and characteristics of the 2061x over the 1959HW.
Played through a Fryette PowerStation into two CX cabinets with G12-30 Anniversaries.

Sorry, yeah I re-read the OP and he does say he had the detail cranked. My bad. Sometimes we read through a post too fast.

Since nobody has stated this simple fact yet, I'll say it,, try cranking your detail knob for more drive.
