Re: JMD1 preamp 8

Thanks all! Al, I used a Zoom H1, then took the track and boosted it a bit with Audacity. That's it, but I need to really spend some more time trying to get good recordings. You know, like yours. I have cakewalk sonar, but by the time I bust it all out and remember how to use it, and troubleshoot so...

This is a quick little sample of me playing my Tele, JMD1, preamp 8 (1974) Vintage 30 2x12 ... I am really digging this tone today! So much classic rock juicy chunkiness.

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

This is why I enjoy this forum; loads of great guys willing to help over here and no BS like 99% of the other forums. Hey Gonzo if you have a Strat this amp has David Gilmour all over it (IMO).... I will have to do another brief video with the TC Electronic 4X and the Nova system. Its all Floyd.......

Re: Jamin out this weekend

Fuckin awesome man. I loved the thick syrupy sound of the riff when you guys kicked it in on the first clip. I hope you don't mind me saying it reminded me of early Entombed or Celtic Frost. I really dig your vocals too. Fuckin raw! Again I hope you don't mind the comparison...but to me they sounded...

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

Update on this thread.... I have played two gigs now with the jmd....and I am really digging it. Haven't even powered my VM up : ( Last night I played a gig with two guys I've played with off and on for the last 20 years. They were both blown away with the sound I was getting. I've barely scratched ...

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

Jocko...I have no idea what you mean by that, I'm going to have to research it.

One thing I'm a little disappointed with is the foot switch seems to have a couple switches that don't work. Like mechanically-the switcher button seems bad.

Anybody got a trick fix for that?

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

Thanks for the comments and tips Jab-no doubt I was running the amp completely wrong at first. I have since corrected these issues. Learning how to dial in the VM kind of trained me not to be an eq abuser. I run the VM all eqs on 5. Also the presence knob is on 7 or 8 on my VM. The JMD needs serious...

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

Update.... Ge7 eq in loop turned preamp 13 into a beautiful thing. So I was trying to figure out how I could use that live, because the low cut I need to use for 13 is not good on say...16. So I would have to remember to turn the fx loop on and off with the foot switch or something right? Wrong haha...

Totally agree-there is so much I would never have heard without internet music streaming.

Re: Now What?! New Deep Purple.

I agree Jag, the digital formats, while making it possible to hear stuff you never would have heard, have kind of sapped the joy and mystique out of the music buying and listening experience. That's why I still buy CDs, and occasionally vinyl (recently purchased the 180 gram Audio Fidelity Kate Bush...

Now What?! New Deep Purple.

As I type this I am rocking the new DP album on headphones, and it is pretty sweet... Steve Morse jams some tasty stuff as always. Track 7!!!! Anyway, it's up on MOG, which is a streaming service I highly recommend, for their selection, ease of use and sound quality (320 Kbps) It's not free, but for...

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

Thanks Dieter and Woodhead...I'm not going to worry about the tick anymore. I have started powering down as per the manual and your recommendations. I can't wait to try the eq pedal in loop....but it's only 0720 here...you know a piece of gear has got you by the nuts when you are counting the minute...

Re: JMD 100 watt head...where's the beef?

MKB, you are obviously a tube amp scientist haha-awesome! Thank you for your response. I have read tons of your entries regarding the JMD, and if anyone understands this amp I'd reckon you do. I have an update...I have officially bonded with the JMD-cant stop playing it actually. I have played about...
