Re: VM Issues/no noise but still powers

Well time for an update I guess. Steve, popping of the connector of the tube warmer cable on the power tube side and reconnecting it seemed to fix the problem. However, after being turned on and played a time or two it all shuts down again and I have to take it apart and disconnect and reconnect aga...

12au7a/ecc82 and 12at7 tubes

So I got my hands on an old GE 12au7a/ecc82 tube and an old HH Scott 12at7. Was wondering if these guys were useable in the Vintage Modern as subs for the ecc83 tubes...mostly for experimenting purposes. Wanted to throw them in and play with different positions. Ultimately they are gonna end up in m...

VM Issues/no noise but still powers

Hello VM clan, been a while to say the least. Well I'm looking for some friendly advice before seeing an amp tech...power up the old 100w VM last week to odd circumstance. No noise and the purple LED is out. Now it does power up, the ldr/hdr led lights and changes and the v1 and v2 tubes glow. Hones...

Re: Breaking Down and Getting a Pedal

I have the TS9DX or whatever the exact model is with the four knobs. IMO wasnt the best sound with the VM, im a little more partial to my tube overdrive pedal...but i like a bit more of a tube compressed overdrive sound anyways to add a bit of extra harmonics that the chips dont seem to get

Re: Spraypainting the back grill gold?

If you want it done right, this is what you got to do: Sand it down with a 120 sandpaper or higher, spray a light first coat of paint, then lightly sand it again, and apply your final coat of paint. This will ensure that the paint has something to stick to and will last a long time. If you want you...

Checkin in after a long summer

Been a long summer and ive been off this a while. Been fun and tragic, lots of fun shows. Slash and CCR at the highlight. But i post looking for advice and a place to vent. Just last night in the midst of the big storms in my girl and i split. I had to pack and leave around midnight. We have been to...

Re: Slash @ Download pics

Awesome pictures! I can't wait till he comes and does his US Tour, I'm deffinitly going! I also hope Myles Kennedy joins Velvet Revolver, that guy can sing almost anything! The song Starlight is really really good, and I love the bluesyness of it. He's doing a date near me in an indoor venue, 1400 ...

Re: New KT77s in my VM 2266

I think it doesn't need modding in the 2466, because 2 KT77s have a different output impedance than 2 KT66s. This impedance (2 KT77s, not 4) is more similar to the 2466 OT's impedance than the 2266 OT. Also, unlike the 2266, in the 2466 the bias trim pot will work better for 2 KT77s, if You read my...

Re: New KT77s in my VM 2266

The 2266 is not the best candidate for KT77s in stock form. Mods will be required. A pair in a 2466 is the best option (apart from leaving the thing alone). Just curious what you mean as a PAIR in the 2466 with it needing a quad of kt66. how does that get set up or does it need moding from stock?
