Re: 2525c power indicator light not working (amp does)

So I have to send back to shop to go back to Marshall as still under warranty. However the amp, sensing it might need some surgery decided, this weekend, to make the red light start working again (albeit dimly). Huh?

Re: 2525c power indicator light not working (amp does)

Cheers. I might give Marshall a phone call and order correct switch from them (I'm in uk and live not far from the factory)...

Re: 2525c power indicator light not working (amp does)

thanks but the amp works fine. On the back there is the HT fuse. Then there's the mains input which says it has an integrated compartment for two additional fuses. If the power light is mains powered could a fuse in the mains compartment have blown?

Re: 2525c power indicator light not working (amp does)

Could it be a fuse gone in the actual mains input on back of amp - manual says it has an integrated fuse compartment ...

Re: 2525c power indicator light not working (amp does)

Thanks. Oddly when it first happened I plugged amp in and no light. Unplugged and plugged back in and it worked for few seconds before going out again. Now nothing...

(Apparently the VMs had an issue with LED lights going... Similar?)

Re: 1974x low end (none compared to C5 through 1974cx)

Thanks Mickey. I'll pass on the info to my tech and see if it makes sense to him. If I can improve bass response without ruining the amp I may well go for some mods. If I go ahead I'll post back to let you know what happens!

Re: 1974x low end (none compared to C5 through 1974cx)

Cheers RKP. However I don't think it's the cab as the C5 delivers tons of bass - it's got to be the circuit. To be fair to the 1974x I think I should give some context to how I'm playing. When I've played the 1974x in a typical band with a bass player, using humbuckers with the amp cranked and ridin...

Re: 1974x low end (none compared to C5 through 1974cx)

Thanks for the response RKP. Yeah, volume wise with a band the 18 watt is perfect for me. But I've noticed too that it doesn't take pedals well. There always seems to be something not quite... thick? enough. What I need is a mod suggestion that increases bass (a proper mod, that shows on a freq char...

1974x low end (none compared to C5 through 1974cx)

I usually rehearse with a Class 5 due to cupboard sized rehearsal space. Recently did a gig with my 1974x and on a song which required my guitar playing a bass part and having low end... well there wasn't any - we abandoned the song as it just sounded odd! So I A/B'd my 1974x against my Class 5 thro...

Re: uk price rise

$600 is good value but we're talking about the uk (where they're made) and they're £599 which is over $950! so yes there are better amps at that price. Ie the 50th anniversary 1 watters

Re: uk price rise

See Steve's comment and other uk sites, eg Nevada music. £599! Don't know why you're getting that but everywhere I look it's a quid short of 6 ton. That's double what it was being sold at. And it ain't worth £600... Don't get me wrong, I love mine and have recommended to friends who have bought. But...

Re: uk price rise

Steve - was the original rrp £599?
I got my class 5, 2 years ago for £299
If rrp wasnt £599 two years ago then it seems like an awfully long time to rectify a pricing mistake...
