Re: Why two controls (Body and Detail) for Preamp Gain?

I'd second that my EQ knobs really dont' do much. I can hear changes in when making extreme like all on or all off. There is not difference between a 4-6 change.

Re: Solo volume boost questions (pedal, extra master vol mo

That's possible for Gilbert. I think he also relies on his Fuzz Universe pedal for most of his dirt. Either run inLDR or a tame HDR. That pedal has a built in clean boost. Pretty nice pedal but it's also like $275. Doug Aldrich is also known to use VM's from time to time and he has his Rocket Fuel p...

Re: Solo volume boost questions (pedal, extra master vol mo

As I understand it, any amp with a post master volume phase inverter won't work right with volume reduction in the loop.

Re: Solo volume boost questions (pedal, extra master vol mo

I think people have tried stuff like that. I believe it cleans the amp up rather than just reducing volume.

Re: Post your pedal board

Here is my updated multi purpose board for my rack setup and VM. All connected back to the amp/rack via a Pedal Snake.

Class 5 in Vintage Moderns tolex

Just a suggestion. I think it would be really cool to have a matching Class 5 for my VM 2466. Purple /black tolex and grill cloth. Single KT 66 too.

Re: Marshall Golden Jubilee - What would you like?

I thinking white tolex with wheat grill cloth JCM800 style panel, that way you don't have gold tolex, but retain that "golden" look. Power Scaling, Outside bias points, Palmer built in, Solo boost, single channel no 4 channel midi BS, maybe some switchable modes ala Splawn

Re: Solo volume boost questions (pedal, extra master vol mo

For me, after trying to go the booster route for over a year with little luck, I've kind of settled on the MXR EQ pedal. I use it in front of the amp, give it a little gain, little volume boost and a midrange bump and that does it for me. Is it a huge volume jump? no, but enough to set me apart from...

Re: Less gain less pain.

I tried this last night in practice. MV 8, all tones controls at 5, Body 2, Detail 3-4, HDR boosted with a MXR CLassic Overdrive set fairly gainy This was very articulate and singy/sustain. We played an STP song and while I thought before hand I didn't have a thick enough sound dialed in, with the r...

Re: Does your VM sound better after an hour

Not sure Wildone. My VM generally sounds good once it's switched on. After an hour my hearing is shot and everything tends to sound a bit muddy... I would agree that this is the first Marshall I've had where after an hour I have a hard time hearing, not because of the amp, but my hearing shuts down...
