The confusion was in "gold back speaker" (if you google it, you find the newer Celestion Gold Back, not the ones that are standard in that cab)

Congratulations with your new amp (soon) Don't let the size fool you (10") I run my C5 combo with a Marshall 1965A cabinet, loaded with 10" Celestion G10L-35 speakers. Sounds massive with the C5. I have no experience with those Celestion Gold speakers though. But people talk highly of those speakers...

I stopped using the EL84M after finding the burnt fuse.
Replaced it with a regular JJ.

If I want more headroom, I use my "master volume" (turn down the mv = less breakup)
It's less loud ofcourse
