Re: So...

JK - Yeah, yeah, yeah, I heard you the first time. Slash - Don't get me wrong, the AFD is a great amp, just not in my band. I need sparkling cleans on some of our songs and the AFD just couldn't do it. We're a two guitar band and the rolling back the volume trick doesn't work well. My favourite thin...

Re: So...

Well the AFD not having a clean channel is hardly my fault, no clean channel means it's useless in a blues/rock cover band. So I would say that it is the amps fault. Also, I don't have a lack of understanding of what you have written, I can read English because I am English. If you feel that I have ...

Re: So...

Well said that man. JK - Do I detect a hint of amp snobbery? A proper tube amp? Overpriced? Lol, I had an AFD100 and sold it two months later. Its a great amp but its restricted in a covers band. I was able to buy a brand new VM2466, a used Haze 40 and a used JMD50 with the money. I now feel I have ...

Re: So...

I have to agree with MKB on this one. The Haze 40 is one of the warmest amps I've ever owned. It's amazingly versatile, especially with the four way footswitch. To say it sounds like an MG must be a joke, surely? The Haze 40 sounds nothing like an MG. With the Les Paul it's perfect for blues and cla...

Re: Footswitch programming tips?

Hi Gigama, I used a Boss GT6 with MIDI to change the channels. This has the benefit of actually knowing which patch you are in and where you want to go to, as you can name each channel on the led screen. Other than that, the patches and banks followed our band's setlist. ie. First song bank one clea...

I have owned all the amps you mention and the VM gets my vote too. Run it alongside the JMD and you'll have everything you need :Thumbs

Yeah that #34 mode is real nice with the rhythm pickup :Thumbs

Congrats on the new AFD! Such a long wait, good to hear that you like it.

Re: Cabinet Type for the AFD 100 and VM

It seems to me that it's the 1x12 that created the tone you prefer, not the ohm rating.

How's the Avatar bearing up?

Re: Got 1 hour with an AFD yesterday

I run mine through a1960AV and it sounds great. I did the same as you are intending and sold my 2266 to buy the AFD. I figured that I could pick up another VM later, which I have :jam I hope that they can get one for you. That handwired cab that gtrman has is beautiful, I'd get one of those :Thumbs

Re: I got my AFd and not really impressed

Here are a couple of things you could try. Stick a reverb and delay in the loop. Run the power on the full 100 watts - a 6 watt VM would sound very different than our VM's. Get a thumping bass line going behind it! This amp just floats on the bass, man! Neck pickup, #34 mode add the effects and ther...

Re: I got my AFd and not really impressed

The AFD is not a VM. I had similar thoughts when I first tried the AFD. It was only when I played along with some Hendrix, gnr and Zeppelin that I realised it gets closer to these tones than the VM does. I prefer the VM and AFD together for my lead and use a switcher to switch to the AFD for crunchy...

Re: Possible efx loop solution?

Hi smash :) Is it possible to have a delay pedal in the lead and not the rhythm using this method?
