Re: Couple Quick Questions About Recording

CBoothe, I am relatively new to recording and use a similar setup apart from the Boss 7 track, where I use Sonar X1 DAW. My recordings were sounding muffled and thick to be honest and I found that some mastering techniques with Sonar help to give the sound more airyness and spaciousness if that make...

Re: Sonar X1 & Nomad Plugins

I am looking forward to being skilled with Sonar and some of the tools that it has to compliment it. The bass is a guitar recording that was transposed down , so is poor. I will have a look at some of the bass guitar plugins to see if I can get it sounding better. You were right though from a previo...

Sonar X1 & Nomad Plugins

Hi there all, I have posted here before but this time a test piece using the new Cakewalk Sonar X1 and the Nomad plugins. It was a mountain to climb after Ableton 8.0 but my god, it's way more capable. Let me know what you think as I am still getting to grips with the mixing and mastering bits and p...

Re: Anyone using the Slash Alnicos?

Bounty hunter,

I've got a set of Seymour Duncan Slash AlNiCo II reverse zebras in my Les Paul and they do sound great. I am very pleased with the sound through my VM 2266. Plenty of crunch and they sustain all night long. Very please!

Regards

Mark

Re: quality cover for 2266 head?

Mike I recently got covers for my 2266 and 425a from: www.ampcovers.co.uk They are reasonably priced but are custom made with whatever colour, beading, pockets that you want on them. He posts internationally for a good price. He has outstanding feedback on his site and I can tell you the quality is ...

Re: Big John Obama Wah

I have heard some unadulterated crap coming out of parliament in the UK recently but the sound from this pedal takes the biscuit. Horses for courses I suppose but not a sound I would consider handing over hard earned money for! I think I would be hard pushed to accept it for free. There is always eb...

Re: Idea about sharing settings

Hi all, I really like the idea of the Marshall knobs as per Slashwannabe's front panel. Would it not be possible to have that as part of your avatar that is customisable to display your settings. That way, if you want your settings dispayed you simply fill out the V, P, B, M, T, B & D with numbers t...

DAW vs Recording Hardware

Hi all, I have been playing around with Ableton and Sonar for a little while now and am getting slightly addicted to recording. I am getting drawn towards purchasing a multi-track recorder such as the Tascam Neo or a Boss BR-1600. Are there any benefits or pitfalls in moving to a multi-track device?...

Re: Quick Ableton Demo with VM and Les Paul

Hi, I used the VM and an SM57 mic angled almost against the speaker cone of the 4x12. I used Ableton 8.0 as the software on a DAW and used my Boss GT-10 for adding some effect to the audio channels. I tried to replicate as far as possible the album version as it has a fair range of effects in the le...

Re: Quick Ableton Demo with VM and Les Paul

Thanks Surf! It's largely due to listening to the audio clips that you have uploaded, that I have decided to play around with the VM and a microphone. I can well imagine that it gets extremely expensive! You are right though, there is something very addictive about putting tracks down electronically...

Quick Ableton Demo with VM and Les Paul

Hi all, I have been getting in to Ableton 8.0 lately and been enjoying tinkering around with the trusty VM and a few sounds. This clip has no bass or real drums but proves that some reasonable results can be gotten from a laptop and some software. It's not complete; I know but I have just been disco...

Re: Is the 50w and good as the 100w?

Hi there, I have got the 50W head and 425a cabinet and really love it. I am not gigging or playing it cranked so really don't need the extra wattage. I suppose it depends on what kind of setup you have and also the venue you are likely to be playing. Either way, the amp sounds fantastic and is anoth...

Re: Anyone using the VM with a Boss GT-10?

Hi there Tremelo, I have being using a 2266 head and cab with a GT-10 for about 8 months now and am totally happy with the results. I plug in direct to the front of the head as opposed to the 4CM. I have not cranked the amp and only really play at bedroom volume but for what I need, the versatility ...

Re: Proper Ohms setting

I had the same question in my head and decided to get it answered by Marshall, so wrote in to them. It would be a crying shame to ruin such a superb head or cabinet through the lack of basic understanding. The answer back from Marshall basically states that the head and cabinet setting should be equ...

Marshall 2266 & Boss GT-10 Combination

Hi all, Just purchased a Boss GT-10 to accompany my 2266 and have to say that I am really pleased with the results. I have only had the VM for about 9 months and have not beasted it at high volume yet but absolutely love the amp to bits. I have not pushed the GT-10 through the effects loop but am st...
