Re: Gibson Guitar Faces Imminent Bankruptcy After 116 Years In Business

Not great news but in my opinion for what it is worth, Gibson have fingers in too many pies and should stick to making guitars! https://news.sky.com/story/iconic-guitar-company-gibson-could-be-facing-bankruptcy-11257323 Sad if this happens but hopefully some ‘restructuring’ can happen to get them ba...

The writing was on the wall

Hi all,

Saw this today - not good news for the Sonar users out there. I know there are a number of key users on the forum. Is Gibson going/gone the way of Marshall? This is total poo news!!

Focusrite Clarett

Is there anybody out there that has used the new Focusrite Clarett Thunderbolt interfaces? I am looking to purchase an audio interface and believe these to be pretty good and somewhat future proof with the Thunderbolt technology. I am happy to look at other brands as well but for me, the Focusrite s...

Re: Suggestions for 18W plexi-ish amp

As Al mentioned a kit build is always an option. I built this 18W plexi style amp a few months ago and could not be happier. Variable power control, bass and treble controls, cascaded inputs and a four position switch to control power valves. Very, very happy with the tonal options and incredibly pl...

Re: Ampmaker 18W Plexi

Shaun, the Ampmaker instructions are very, very detailed and go through every stage step by step. The pictures and illustrations are great and there are a number of checks along the way to ensure things are going well. I totally enjoyed the build and am now also looking at the 5w amp. I did a bit of...

Re: Ampmaker 18W Plexi

Thanks everyone. It was a real pleasure to build, although slightly unnerving turning it on for the first time! I will be getting a cab built but am not sure whether to make a combo or head. I fancy a combo in the same colour tolex as my VM as I like the portability for a quick jam etc. http://www.a...

Ampmaker 18W Plexi

I decided to put together an 18W kit from Ampmaker and could not be happier, the thing sounds fantastic! I have definitely got the bug for a bit of soldering and might looks at some of the BYOC pedals, although somewhat different to building an amp. Has anyone any experiences from BYOC?

Re: Marshall Amplification, please... open letter!

This has a lot to do with strategic vision and where senior management see the company going over the next few years. It is clear that a lot of changes have befallen Marshall in recent times and that they seem to be in a period of regain since the passing of Dr. Jim OBE. Reading this thread actually...

Whatever next..............Gibson kitchen sinks?? http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Features/en-us/Gibson-Brands-Launches-Neat-Microphones-Division.aspx Why on earth can they not just stick to the core business of producing quality instruments? I get it that in austere times companies need to de...
