Re: 2525 Mini Jube - other valves?

The 2525 is indeed cathode biased. I’m running an old pair of Svetlana winged-C in mine and I know some guys have been successfully running 6CA7 valves as well.

2525 Mini Jube - other valves?

I thought I’d check first before turning my 2525H into a smoke box: can it take 6L6 tubes without any risks to the trafo? What about KT66?

Re: Got my Origin 50H today. It wasn’t making any sound...

Back from the gig, we did a short 90 min set of 70s-80s-90s new wave/indie covers from The Jam to The Pixies and Supergrass. I used the ORI50H exclusively on the medium power mode with a single M65 Creamback in an open back. The boost was on all the time to crunch up the tone a little (I don’t like ...

Re: Got my Origin 50H today. It wasn’t making any sound...

Rehearsal done, and successful for the most part. I didn’t like the OCD or the TS9 in the FX loop, both sounded fizzy and fuzzy. However the T-Rex Soulmate hooked up via the 4-cable method sounded great. Better than on my 1987X, dare I say. The amp stayed on the medium power level (10W?)the whole re...

Re: Got my Origin 50H today. It wasn’t making any sound...

I’m not worried about the tube issue, between Vietnam and Holland things might have been shaking around a bit. I’ll try the OD pedal in the loop suggestion tonight, as well as my regular pedalboard setup. I’ll report back in a day or two, at home I can’t open it up too much to test the power tube br...

Got my Origin 50H today. It wasn’t making any sound...

Not the introduction I’d hoped for. I ordered it based on YT demos and mainly on Santiago’s cred. Plugged it in, total silence. Turns out it was a dead EL34. Since I opened it up to retube it, I took some photos of the guts. After the retube everything works as it should. There seems to be less gain...

Re: Traded the Classic half stack for a Custom combo

So far so good with the Strat, I've played it for about an hour this morning before going to work. I can't turn it up too loud at home, but I love what I'm hearing. Definitely needs the Body control engaged, last night with the LP I had the Brightness on instead. Here it is, with the (some of) rest ...

Traded the Classic half stack for a Custom combo

Wow, why haven't I tried a Custom all these years?! I know, the prohibitive price and the Classic already sitting in my room made me think there was no need. Last week I spotted a new Custom combo for under 1500€ at an online retailer, but their physical shop is far from me so I ordered it on Saturd...

Re: DSL5CCW with a 12" Celestion G12H-55

Indeed, the classic gain channel sounds awesome cranked through the G12H-55 speaker.

All in all, I have to say this amp is much better than the Class 5.

DSL5CCW with a 12" Celestion G12H-55

I never even knew this CW version existed, until I saw one being sold at 20% off for being a shop demo model. I had already played a regular DSL5C and knew I liked it, so when a cheaper (and better looking!) one came up for sale, I bought it. This was a couple of weeks ago. Meanwhile I have tried a ...

Re: Double NAD: 6100 & 6100LM

The LM runs on 5881 tubes. There's clearly a difference in tone on the 2nd channel between them, especially in mode A with the gain all the way up.

Re: Double NAD: 6100 & 6100LM

Thanks guys! I'll have my friend who's an amp tech spend a couple of days with both heads on his workbench next week.

Surf, the stereo rig sounds very interesting. Would you use a simple Y cable or an ABY pedal?

Double NAD: 6100 & 6100LM

Last week a 1992 blue 6100 half stack and a 1996 black 6100LM head popped up for sale locally and both for very good prices so I moved quickly and got them both :yea The blue 6100 came from its first owner, a blues lawyer who has kept it in his living room since 1992. It's still in original conditio...
