Re: Dr Jim Marshall OBE RIP

Very sad to hear. April 5th is not a good day for rock music! Kurt, Layne, now Jim.

RIP Jim, so many people will turn it up to 11 today so you can hear it :headbanger

Re: MA50H - Hiss problem

Hey sorry for the late reply! Don't use a normal cable to test the speaker cab if you can help it. Theyre designed for the tiny level between the guitar and amp, not the massive level between the amp and speaker! It will probably be ok at low volumes but dont turn the volume up! The break between ch...

Re: MA50H - Hiss problem

Ah I would try different cables before you pay for anything drastic, you'd be surprised how much hiss can be caused by a cable! hmmm I'd say if you use more stomp boxes and you need 1 or 2 basic sounds from an amp, stick with the MA as I think its a great work-horse. If you need a bigger variety of ...

Re: MA50H - Hiss problem

Hi Aleph Sounds strange as both me and the other guitarist in my band have MA50H', both of which run very quietly. I would get the bias and power tubes checked straight away. If too much current is going through the amp it will cause hiss regardless of the volume on your guitar/pedals, though I doub...

Re: Volume problem

ah that sucks! well I have the same amp as you and I can safely say its very loud, so somethings not right with yours. Could it be lack of adequate power in the room? I used mine at practice while my drummer had a fan heater on in the same room. It took at least 20dB off the volume just from starvin...

Re: Volume problem

Steve will reply soon im sure....hes probably quite busy lol So just to clarify, youre getting good volume when you run it on the OD channel with the boost engaged, but hardly any volume on clean? If so my guess is that the problem is around the V1 preamp tube, but obviously not the tube itself if y...

Injurred V30 cone HELP

Hey all, So i did a gig last night, my cab was shared amongst 4 other bands. I got home to find small hole in one of the V30s. I own the Dave Mustaine cab so the metal grill leads me to believe it wasnt an accident. The hole is very neat so it would have to have been a sharp object. :cuss Anyway, i ...

THATS MORE LIKE IT! bout time someone cranked the shit outta the ma and posted about it. I run mine slightly quieter (3 o clock) but on the boost with a bit more gain (11 o clock). Cant wait to get some vids up here.

Different single power tubes in MA50H?

Hello all! So im in a slight power tube dilemma. As some of you know I'm a big KT77 fan. For the past few months I've been trying out some 6CA7s, and have been pretty happy. Problem is, I love how the KT77 breaks up, but I also quite like the fatness offered by the 6CA7. Seeing as the MA50 allows fo...

Re: Channel Switching popping issue & Tubes rattle issue

hey phano, Firstly sorry if my suggestions have already been given! With the tube rattle, are they the original stock tubes? Sounds like you're getting a bit of resonance from the A string. Try some different tubes, see if that solves it. Ive had a few different sets in mine and some have rattled mo...

Re: swapping valve styles????

Hey Kev, I'm really not sure to be honest. I have always thought 5881 = 6L6GC, and therefore is not a straight swap. Have a look round this website... http://www.eurotubes.com/euro-j.htm He is exclusively a JJ seller BUT he is very helpful and informative. He's helped me out plenty of times. Give hi...

Re: swapping valve styles????

Those are what I run in my JCM800 and I always come back to them after periodically trying regular EL34s and E34Ls just to "make sure" I still prefer them. Totally going through the same thing with my MA....trying some 6CA7s at the mo (closest thing to a 6L6 in the EL34 family), and next time i hav...
