Re: Axe-FX III

I also just got the AXEFX3 about 2 weeks ago. Amazing for direct recording and I'm coming from BIASFX. For direct recording I'm using Yamaha HS7 monitors. I just got a 2x12 cab and a Crown XLS1002 power amp to run it through the 2x12 (Veteran 30s) and initially I was underwhelmed. It sounded very mu...

Thinking About Getting a Code100 Head

Hi all haven't posted in a while. I'm thinking about getting a Code100 head for my 2x12 with Veteran 30s. I have a few questions: 1) I'm wondering if anyone here knows for sure if the cabinet sims can be turned off on the Code100 and also 2) if anyone has been using one for a while and what are your...

So I got a Blackstar ID 60 Combo..

Hey guys been meaning to post this for a while. I got a Blackstar ID 60 Combo amp and I have to say IMO its amazing and its the best solid-state combo amp Ive EVER used. I sold my Marshall DSL40 combo after I got this because for my needs in my home, the ID60 is more than I need. I did replace the s...

Re: Help me pick out another Bass

Sorry to be the random one here but I got an Ibanez SR300E bass for recording purposes recently (I taught myself a little bass on my bothers bass in years past)...and I have to say its awesome for the money. Lots of tonal variety. Amazing fit and finish!

Oh cool! do you think that would work on an OLP? It has a "Fender type" trem on it.

Seeking Advice On Floyd Rose Conversion

I have an older OLP and I was thinking of converting it to a Floyd Rose. I have done one Floyd conversion on a kit guitar and although it was a little messy and took few tries to get the post locations drilled correctly, it worked out ok in the end. I was wondering if anyone here knows of a reputabl...

Upgraded speakers in modeling combos (etc)?

Hi everyone haven't posted in a while. I brought this up in another post but I wanted to give it its own thread. It seems to me that one of the major weak points of modeling or lower cost amps are the stock speakers. I upgraded the speakers in several amps in the past including my DSL40, MGs, and Li...

Re: NAD! CODE50

Just wondering if you are planning to replace the stock speaker? Ive found that with these modeling type amps, the stock speaker tends to be a weak point. I have put a veteran 30 speaker into a few other 1x12 amps in the past and it made a big difference. In fact, I just got a Blackstar ID60 and eve...

A/B tube vs solid-state question

Hey wasn't quite sure where to put this topic. I was wondering if anyone here has ever done a proper "A/B" test between a solid state amp (Marshall, Line6, etc) and any Marshall. What I mean by proper is listening only (blind test) going through the same cab, same guitar, same player etc. I know at ...

Re: Marshall Mini Jubilee 2525C vs DSL40c Opinions?

There's plenty of gain to be had but it's a more revealing type of gain than what I hear in the DSL1. The 2525 is also not a noisy amp btw. I can see it easily being a straight in type of amp for a lot of player's tone styles. The lead channel has a bit more compression and is fun to play on. I get...

Re: Marshall Mini Jubilee 2525C vs DSL40c Opinions?

Still considering a test run but another question. For those who have used it, what level of gain can the 2525 achieve compared to the DSL40? I know it can pull off GNR but can it get into 80s metal territory like the DSL? * I realize that if I'm asking to compare it to the DSL, then the DSL can do ...

Marshall Mini Jubilee 2525C vs DSL40c Opinions?

Hi all I dont usually ask for comparisons because there are often a lot of variables and often can come down to taste, but Im considering buying a Marshall Mini Jubilee combo as a companion or as a replacement (if it just blew it away) to/for my DSL40 combo. FYI I really like my DSL40c and have upgr...
