Re: Tube upgrade on class 5 combo

It probably is overkill but I would at least wash my hands before handling them.

Re: Tube upgrade on class 5 combo

Also, it's best not to touch your new tube with your bare hands because the oils may cause the tube to burn hotter in different spots shortening the life of the tubes. A sock or glove would work.

Re: Better head back to Portland Surf, another new TC Pedal.

Picked this one up, arrived today. Very cool, I like the graphics better than the HOF which is currently on ebay. I like the two PGS settings better than the ones they've deleted, but then again I like spacey acid rock options for pink floyd stuff ect. I'm thinking about buying the alter ego once th...

Re: Class 5 discontinued?

Yes its a very easy mod, IMO Marshall incorporated in the later version because of this forum, getting ideas from the customer... nothing wrong with that, givin' us what we want. Free, easy research for them, but we also get direct contact and helpful input with Steve, the engineer who designed the ...

Re: C5 Head... bright switch mod done (with crappy photos)

well I noticed 120pF quite a bit but I also did the mods over at LP forum. When my amp was stock the 240pF worked great. I clipped out the ceramic cap C10, to have room, but if you have long enough leads, like in your case judging from the picture you won't need to do that.

Re: C5 Head... bright switch mod done (with crappy photos)

Shaun great idea! I had already done what you did and took it one step further. Use a DPDT ON-OFF-ON switch so you can have the 120pF, stock, and 220pF. I used the the same value caps, well actually I didn't have a 220pF so I used a 250pF. Both were silver mica. The difference is the most notable at...

On a island is excellent. I dig his lead tones and love how he composes his solos so much feeling in them.

Re: C5 Head, volume pot bright mod..anyone done this?

no problem, silver mica is the material and supposedly sounds better than ceramic, but again let your ears decide and there are so many variables involved in making that claim.

Re: C5 Head, volume pot bright mod..anyone done this?

I would recommend doing it. I've done it an used a switch to go between stock (no bright cap) to 120pf and 240pf. I like the options because each one suites my guitars differently. I would try 120pf silver mica and go from there but that will most likely give you the results you want at a lower volu...

Re: Looking for a new dirt box

my advice, make sure you don't buy a hot rodded ts-9 disguised as something else, like the tone monk seed of life or rockbox boiling point. If you like that sound just buy a modded ts-9 it will save you some money
