Re: JTM45/100 TONES ON MY VM? HELP!

oh right.... yeah I have a feeling he used it on voodoo child. You can distinctly hear him using the Strat's tremolo bar at around 5:00 on the track; - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-pbOH0E8Ro&feature=fvst I've always been pretty sure that 00:40 phrase ends on a tremolo arm vibrato too. Re: JTM45/100 TONES ON MY VM? HELP!

This is a link to the Xotic AC Booster demo that impressed me. It's with a Gibson Les Paul Custom (my usual weapon of choice) and a 1987 plexi re-issue (so close to our VM territory). Be warned, it's in a QuickTime window at the bottom of the page that can take a little while to load. http://www.xot...

Re: JTM45/100 TONES ON MY VM? HELP!

[/quote]It's common with tube screamer type pedals too loose low end, generally people like how it tightens it up, but i'm not a fan. I stack my EP boost with other pedals such as the OCD and it works fine with very promising results in fact. The bass switch is used for people who use single coils a...

Re: I have an announcment to everyone regardling my behavior

SW1 - I'm sorry I have not responded sooner. I don't view this area of the forum very often and I've been offline anyway with a broken hand meaning I couldn't type. Man ... I don't know what to say. I could sense between the lines that something was up recently for you. Take strength that your prior...

Re: JTM45/100 TONES ON MY VM? HELP!

I use them for different things. I like the EP's grit, sparkle, and fatness a little better than what I get out of the RC. I use the RC as a pure volume boost (volume all the way up and gain all the way down) and like have the eq controls to tweak the tone depending on the guitar im using. Paul Kos...

Re: JTM45/100 TONES ON MY VM? HELP!

kissfanps - I see from your kit list that you have 2 Xotic boost pedals - why have you recommended EP over the RC for this task? I'm thinking of getting the Xotic AC or BB next - any info on your experience with the aforementioned couple would be appreciated. I'm another looking to get a bit of push...

Re: Got myself a 50watt Plexi

No, I'm trying to describe that if the fellow was successful enough to be in Dire Straits that he probably runs his income and outgoings as a business - maybe even as a corporate identity - and would be recognised by the government tax office as such. In other words, different rules (literally) appl...

Re: Got myself a 50watt Plexi

That's very cheap! Are they originals or reissues? Either way, great price. Just a guess, but bear in mind that a lot of business set-ups write off new purchases against tax for many years after buying. There comes a point where the taxman claims back the depreciation write-offs of previous years i...

Re: power attenuators

Never understood the antipathy to attenuators - use a Hot Plate myself. I cannot make the VM sound worse by using it and turning up the MV. By that I mean that all sorts of changes occur as the MV goes up and the Hot Plate steps down its optional volumes decreases - but all of the changes are an imp...

Giving home many questions there always are to compare the 425 to the 1960AX that would be great.

Re: Ghost notes in HDR with amp cranked

When played loud, ghost notes were not uncommon on the 100W vintage amps which the Vintage Modern is based on. Most players aren't bothered but there's always the option of having the power supply filtering modded which can change the feel of course. Do I have the same effect? If playing typical 80...

Re: Speaker Change Recommendations

My experience is that any kind of Greenback speaker is the best match for the VM. I persevered for a long time with V30s - how bad could they be? - probably made a big mistake there. Talking all-out Rock tones - say, AC-DC/Back in Black or such - the V30s seem to fight against the inherent creamines...

Re: Groovey blues on top of a hip hop beat :)

I'm digging it. I always appreciate a mixing of genres, in this case hip-hop and Blues/Rock. That's a blend that is begging to be done more often.
