Re: Bought a Jubilee 1x12 Combo Tonight!

No, I didn't read your link before posting here. I was at that "I have low blood sugar levels and needed my tea hours ago" state - just wanted to help and get the damn post over and done. I almost never post unless I feel I might be able to contribute to a joint trouble-shoot. Having read the other ...

Re: Bought a Jubilee 1x12 Combo Tonight!

Well, to dismiss everything in my post does kind of miss the points that; You acknowledge this is an unusual and rare fault That I had another 1x12 combo that exhibited exactly this behaviour That one of only three Mesa-approved service enginners in the UK was baffled by it I am a guy round here tha...

Re: Bought a Jubilee 1x12 Combo Tonight!

As well as the above I would check for tube rattle and other cabinet vibrations that can be triggered at resonant frequencies. Anything only a tiny bit loose - speaker mounts, tubes, cab screws etc. That it occurs only on some notes is indicative of this or a speaker cone fault. Always worth swappin...

Re: Thin Sound on VM 2466

Yeah, it happens all the time with amps. Is is the most likely? No, I can't say that but it's something you can easily found out for yourself before the time and trouble of going to a tech. After a few years or so any contacts on the pots or loop can get grimy from everyday dust and useage and cause...

Re: Thin Sound on VM 2466

Could be many things.

But that's exactly what happens when the effects loop jacks get dirty. Give them a good clean out before trying more complicated fixes.

Re: 2466 ldr volume vs. jtm45, 1987x, 1959 volume

I really shouldn't stick my head over the parapet like this but ... I'm going to disagree with Steve D ... oh, yeah - I know how to make myself popular round here. Anyhow, i do NOT find LDR and HDR with guitar volume down low to sound the same. And a good thing too. To me, IMHO etc., blah-blah-woof-...

Re: trade Marshall VM2266 for Jubilee 2553 yes or no

As a financial thing only - any Jubilee is likely to have a higher financial value than a VM. They're rare(-ish) and there is a Cult of Personality thing going on with them because of their use by name players. It's taken 20+ years for them to be this regarded. For many years they were out of favour...

Re: VM = Misunderstood?

My experience of general internet chatter is different in that I have only heard great compliments on forums and reviews. In music shops, not so much. Somehow Marshall wasn't able to market the VM so that staff on the sales floor get it and want to sell it. Why? Lots of reasons ... ... Music sales i...

I think a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame is exctly the sort of recognition this guy deserves for his accomplishments on guitar and contribution to guitar playing in general. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Re: Marshall Vintage Modern 2266c Problem

I get obsessive about the minutiae of these things so, again, bear with me. There are things here that I've still got to know. You imply that you don't want to miss playing on the VM for repair downtime but if my amp had only a working Body it would be very dark and fuzzy and pretty much unusable - ...

Re: Marshall Vintage Modern 2266c Problem

So your amp must sound really dark and mushy? Really, really so? Okay, there is no real excuse for the store or repair guy not to know this BUT ... being practical ... ... The VM (AFAIK) is a unique amp design concept based on two different pre-amps with differing frequency ranges that sum together ...

Re: Marshall Vintage Modern 2266c Problem

Okay, bear with me - I'm just trying to clarify ...

... You're saying that if you have the Body and Detail set to 0 there is no (or next to no) sound? You bring up the the Body and there is sound? But if you return the Body to 0 and turn up the Detail to 10 there is no sound again?

Re: Learning English, need help

It's still a working studio and there is a TV series running here where name bands play "live" from Abbey Road. I'm not a particular Maiden fan but this example was ... impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoZHbGEuCT0 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=xFz4ksT6vTw&NR=1 (You can see...

Re: Learning English, need help

Oh, well if you're going to pick one concert you've got a good one. Re food: I'm just going to come right out and say this - the standard of steaks in America is unbelievably good compared to the UK. :sport This really matters to me. So if you see a walk-in steakhouse then beware, it's likely to be ...
