Re: Time for a new Marshall?

Seems like they are content with their current lineup. In two years we have gotten the DSL 5 and the SL5. I know about the handwired new amps but they are reissues.

Yes it's time.

Five Tone Killers

1. Shit old strings. Don't be lazy, change your strings. The new Dean Markley Helix strings are the best I have used ever. 2. True Bypass. If you must use effects choose them carefully and line them up carefully. I am convienced that true bypass pedals are much better for your amp. 3. Tubes. OK I am...

James Kottak In deep shit

Don't think I would want to spend a minute in any Arab jail. James Kottak might not come out alive if he thinks he can pop off over there. :upass United Arab Emirates are reporting that the American drummer for the rock band Scorpions has been sentenced to one month in jail after being convicted of ...

AC Line Voltage and Guitar Tone

Ever wondered how line voltage affects guitar tone, especially in vintage amps - a great article with real research, not snake oil or internet hearsay. Great read.

Re: Ordered used jcm 2000 dsl 100

The new DSL is a good two channel amp, really can't go wrong with it. The original JCM DSLs were made in the UK. Thing is you are getting a lot of amp for the money. Being made in Vietnam is just a sign of the times in our global economy. I don;t like it but we all try to get this biggest bang for o...

A wake up call that you have to much time on your hands. :loser Seriously, I shouldn't talk, but this is still a great forum for information and all things Marshall.

Re: What is the process of designing a new Marshall amp mode

Surfnorthwest posted about this some time ago, Al is correct when he states that Santiago and Steve are the two designers still at Marshall (at least as far as I know). I wouldn't say Santiago is all Modern as I am sure he can build a amp with vintage tone as easy as Steve could build a shred amp. B...
