Seems to be Hit or Miss with the EL84M.

The stock EL84 in my C5-01 was a JJ EL84. But is was glued to the rubber damper which made it a real pain to swap out. The 12AX7s were a Red Marshall and Silver Marshall JJs.

I've had the same issue in my C5-01 combo and gave up on the EL84M after two tries with two tubes. Have used a JJ EL84 ever since without any problems.

Any updates to this thread? I too put a Sovtek EL84M in my year old Class 5 just the other day, and blew the T125mAL250V fuse off the board. Ive seen others discuss the same issue. I had this problem too in my C5-01 combo. First time the used a EL84M the amp worked fine for a couple of minutes before blowing the fuse. Got a replace EL84M after posting about it here on the forum, replaced the faulty tube with the new one and it worked great for a few weeks before the fuse blew ...
