Re: New 2205 Need Input

I have 1987 2205 and I can say they are very finicky about footswitches. Mine doesnt like any foot switch with lights for some reason, tried a couple Marshall MA and Traynor 2 button switches with lights that didn't work very well with it. Carvin FS-22 without lights works perfectly. I think 1990 22...

Re: A couple things

Just guessing but it smells like it could possibly be some sort of solid state or hybrid digital modeling amp. That's not changing the world, it's been been done more than once before by Line 6 and others. Hopefully my guess is not anywhere close to what it actually is.

Re: New Fender Bassbreaker??

New GC videos up of the Bassbreaker series. The 15w is probably the most versatile of the lot with reverb and effects loop. None of them impressed me all that much to get me GAS'ing for one though. If I wanted to gig with a single channel amp I would probably just go with a 2204. 18/30w https://www....

Re: New Fender Bassbreaker??

Anxious to see if the 18/30w and 45w go even further down that road. So far the only fault I can find is the name. A good portion of people are not going to get the reference and think it is a bass amp. Plus it sounds goofy, like a solid state bedroom amp. And "Breaker" should probably never be in t...

Re: New Fender Bassbreaker??

More in depth video of the 7 watt with good audio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUExY97gNEQ

Ironically he even calls out that this is unofficially a Fender version of the "Marshall Bluesbreaker".

Marshall? Hello? Are you guys paying any attention or are you busy closing down the shop?

Re: New Fender Bassbreaker??

First demos have surfaced. just the 7w version though. Fender pretty much took another page from the Marshall playbook and didn't make any quality demos available online to coincide with the release of the amp...

Re: Opinions on the 2205/2210 amps

I like them a lot. Tom Morello seems to like them too. I own a 1987 model year 2205. IMO the 2205/2210 was one of the last really great sounding amps Marshall made. The overdrive "Boost" channel to me has wonderfully organic sounding mids with good note definition and a nice crunchy low end thunk. A...

New Fender Bassbreaker??

Just got a new GC Holiday Gift Guide in mail and while leafing through it I cam across a new line of Fender amps called the "BassBreaker". A variety heads/combos from 45 watts down to 7w along with power scaling. Pricing $399-$999. The biggest surprise to me was the 45w is equipped with EL34's and t...

Re: BIASING the new DSL100H head

Forgot to mention too that if you had one of these: http://www.amp-head.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=70 you'd only have to locate the adjustment trim pots on the amp as you could measure the bias and plate voltage and determine what the correct setting should be using a bias calculator ...

Re: BIASING the new DSL100H head

Just a thought but you might want to have a look at the pictures on this thread about biasing an MA. Both DSL and MA built in the same Vietnamese factory so there's always a chance they stuck with a similiar design. Each of the outer pins on CON7 are the test points on the MA and the center is the g...

Re: DSL40c demo videos

Anderton's UK put up a 35 minute demo of the DSL40c, DSL15, and DSL 1 Watt. Their demos are usually pretty amusing and this one is no exception.

DSL40c demo videos

A couple of new demo videos posted of the DSL40c from a music shop down under: I'm interested to play one in person although I'm expecting them to be like the MA series in qual...

Help needed 2205 won’t change channels

I have a 1987 vintage JCM 800 2205 that will not change from gain channel back to clean. It had this problem a while back when I first bought it used off of eBay and I had a tech fix it (not sure what he did) but now it is back again. I had been using a standard 2 button Carvin FS22 (no lights/leds)...

Re: Disassembly and Retubing

Rayce, out of curiosity have you tried taking a reading with the stock tubes that were in the amp? I also noticed your picture shows only 2 single boxes of power tubes but presumably you are replacing all 4 at once and not just one pair? Another obvious question is are you certain the JJ tubes you h...
