Re: Is there a story behind the purple?...

I’ve owned a 2266, a 425B, and a 2266C. I also love the purple color and also how the color changed in different lighting. Good job Steve.

Maybe another 2266C down the road, if I can still find one.

1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

I picked this up a month or so ago, a 1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. Currently, the oldest Gibson guitar that I have owned. The Mini Humbucker’s (Gibson embossed covers) sound great, my only issue is getting used to the thin ‘70s neck. The guitar has been refined, but was also originally a Goldtop. It...

Re: JTM45 20w/5w

Well my new JTM Studio arrived Wednesday afternoon. I am very impressed with the amp. It has plenty of bottom-end and fullness. Good cleans, the volume is very manageable, and it has a nice edge of breakup sound without being too loud. It takes all of my pedals well. The Creamback sounds great in th...

Re: JTM45 20w/5p

Well, after owning the Mini Jubilee and the SV20H, I swore off these 20 watt amps, but I just ordered a JTM ST20C from Sweetwater at about 1/2 price. I couldn’t pass it up at that price, and if I don’t like it, I should be able to resell it quickly without loosing much of my investment. I’m hoping t...

Re: Marshall Astoria Classic Bluesbreaker Conversion

I had Erik’s grill cloth on my 1962HW. Loved the look and the sound. Wish that I thought of it at the time I had the cab built.

Gibson Les Paul Special (TV Yellow)

Picked this up new last weekend, at a big annual sale and at a nice discount. Guess that I just like yellow guitar’s. This is my third Gibson TV Yellow Special. I do prefer Humbucker’s over P90’s but these pickups do sound good and add a little variety to my tone. Other that the color, the second be...

Re: JTM45 20w/5w

I’m in the same boat, I’ve not had much luck with any low 5-20 watt amp that I’ve owned. I owned a 20 watt Jubilee Combo and it was pretty decent, but at the time, I owned other 1x12 combo amps that sounded better. I later bought and SV20H and used it with a 1x12 with a Greenback, a 2x12 with G12-75...

Astoria Classic

About a year ago, I converted my Astoria Classic combo into a Bluesbreaker (style) combo using a custom made Maher cab. The best mod that I’ve ever done to an amp. It made a great amp even better. It’s running two mint condition ‘77 Blackback speakers and it has tone very close sounding to my two pr...

NAD 1976 Marshall JMP 2187

Not a lot of information on these, basically a model 1987 NMV chassis a 2x12 combo. Definitely one of the best sounding Marshall’s that I’ve owned.

Re: I just can’t warm up to the 425A

I’ve never liked V30’s in the combo amps that I’ve owned. I imagine they are better suited for enclosed 4x12.

New Guitars

I had some medical things going on and I sold off some of my guitars and amps. I did add these three guitars and another amp but I am still down on my gear count. A 2006 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Ebony with a ‘50s neck. A 2016 Gibson Les Paul Traditional in Iced Tea. A 2021 brand new (old stock) F...

Re: I just can’t warm up to the 425A

I had a 425B cab and I loved it. I used it with my VM 2266, a 1987x, and a JMP1H Anniversary head.

That cab and my early ‘80s JCM800 1936 with G12-65’s were were probably my two favorite cabs.
