Re: Robin Trower rig rundown.

When he plays the lick from Bridge of Sighs it just slays me. Anyone can play that lick, it's not exactly hard. But with a strat/vibe/Marshall I can't get anywhere close to the way he plays it and the way it sounds.

It's all in the hands, as they say

Re: Your First Marshall....

After going through Fender's and Traynor's and through pedals saying "I want it to sound like a Marshall" I finally got wise and bought one, I VM 2266 head. Loved it from the outset but but felt like something was missing playing it through a 2x12 cab with Eminence speakers. A year or so after I bou...

Re: Surf's Studio Update

As always, that's an awesome setup. I have joked for years that if I won the lottery I'd have a room that was just a 'wall of Marshall's', you sir have that so I tip my hat to you. What turned you onto the Pinnacle? I've had one for years (I think that exact version too, V2 I believe), it's my go to...

Re: Vintage Modern 2266 50W - seeking alternate cabinet suggestions

I've tried V30's and G12T-75's. Both I thought were fine, but the first time I played it with a 425a cabinet I thought it blew everything else away and sounded like 'home' for the amp. I would say any greenback would likely get fairly close to the G12C speakers in the 425 cabs, for whatever reason i...

Re: The new DSLR (reissue) explained

Remember you can still slave out a DSL1. In the low mode the wattage is low enough to use the four cable method and place the DSL in the loop of another amp. Curious about this, could you point me to a thread from the 50th anniversary thread, or just explain how this works? If I was to plug this in...

Re: The new DSLR (reissue) explained

Hey gentlemen, long time no see. Just popped in because I was hearing about the new products. I'll be getting that DSL1 to replace my Blackstar HT-5 as my late night practice amp. I was interested in the 1 watters years ago but wasn't going to drop $700 (or whatever they cost) for a practice amp. I ...

Re: Finally got it fixed: Galt Musical Instruments Mason 5

Thanks guys, a little more history on this one: The company that made it was close to Toronto, Canada and may have been the first company in Canada to manufacture guitar amps (Traynor did not start up until the 60's), they are long since out of business. I've spotted a couple of these around here an...

Finally got it fixed: Galt Musical Instruments Mason 5

Thought I'd share this with everyone, a few years ago a found this amp at my Aunt's place. It was originally purchased by my grandparents for my mother and aunt to learn slide guitar on (I also have one of those lap steel, that's another project) and was built in 1955. I've been trying to get someon...

I just had an amp from 1955 restored by Dave at Hamilton Repairing (in Hamilton), fantastic work, reasonable price and incredible turnaround times (literally next day), email him at hamiltonrepairing@gmail.com, tell him Mark sent you!

Re: Lemmy is gone

Really sad news. I have a funny relationship with Motorhead throughout my life, as a teenager I was a metal kid therefore into all the bay area thrash bands that worshipped Motorhead. I knew a lot of their work and certainly respected the hell out of them (all my heroes love them!) but I wouldn't ha...

Re: Got a couple of new pedals yesterday

The Pinnacle was one of the first pedals I bought when I was looking for a Marshall in a box pedal for my board for when I go to jams and don't bring an amp. I think it's excellent, I've tried maybe a half dozen other similar style pedals but nothing kicks it off my board.

my very simple rule- if it's not in my hands it's in a case.PERIOD. THIS ^^^^^^^ Broke the head off my Standard, from that day forward this has been the rule. I still have stands but I never use them anymore. Especially now with two small children this rule is crucial Good news is it's an easy fix,...
