Re: YJM100 at Christmas day gig

I have noticed that when you play in a band situation it is not a case of using your bedroom setting with less EPA. I found that I need to turn down the front volume and boost a bit as it was too distorted and harsh. I also wasn't too happy with the tone change when switching between solo and rhythm...

Yamaha THR 5 Plexi sound

Not sure if this is sacrilege on this forum! I recently got one of these little boxes and I have to say I am blown away by the sound quality of it. It has 5 basic amp models including a plexi and with the onboard gain which function like the boost on the yjm100 I can get a very similar sound as if i...

Re: YJM100 Effects Loop Hum Test

I noticed it too. I presumed it was the generic power supply I was using, but it doesnt do it with my Engl Blackmore. I must admit, I wasnt too happy with the fx loop, mainly cos I like the sound with masters maxed and it made the fx sound messy, which was to be expected when so much of the sound co...

Re: About EPA on YJM100

I think it sounds more vintage if you turn the tone controls right down. It send sounds more like my 77 super lead. I think the tone controls on modern marshalls sound different to the old ones. I also think that the preamp voltage is much higher in new amps, whereas the old plexis sound more soft a...

Re: YJM Problem

That sounds very similar to the problem I had.

my replacement amp arrived today. forgot how great this sounds. Its my best amp with yngwie strats. My Blackmore strat sounds best with my Engl Blackmore, whereas this is best with yngwie strats with fury or HS pups.

YJM Problem

Well my patience has finally gone so I'm gonna let you guys know what the score is with some problems I have had. After having the amp for a month mine developed a fault, whereby the attenuator control started cutting in and out. I then rebiased the amp and all the warning lights came on and the sou...

Valve Failure - Question for Santiago

Or anyone else who know the answer to this? If a light comes on indicating that a valve has a problem, is it safe to continue using in 100 watt mode. This has happened to me today and the amp still seems to work in both 100/50. Note that this is with some 6550s that I put in. I was wondering whether...

Re: It's here ....

I sold my pinnacle a while back. dam, I bet it sounds great with this amp. Ive been experimenting with pedals too. In the main, I think the onboard boost works better than most, but is is very trebily so I find myself having to compensate with the amps tone controls which make it fairly bassy when t...

Re: YJM Review

He's a twisty git. He has that kind of deadpan, 'know it all', way about him thats a bit irritating if you ask me. Seems to be a self-elected 'authority' on gear. Looks like has put his pension lump sum to good use though!

Re: Great news!!!!!!!!!!!

Almost strange. Don´t think this should work. Since the output stage has reached it´s limit you should only get more distortion. Maybe the effects loop is lowering the signal? Exactly, that's why I was surprised. Perhaps Santiago can explain? Also the consequences are for the lifetime of the output...

Great news!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know why this works but it does... putting a clean boost in the fx channel does result in a significant volume boost even when masters are on 10 and the power scaling is being used to set the overall volume. I really didnt think this would work because there should be no headroom left for any...

Re: Solo Boost Solution

Nice sound from the YJM! But dude.... what arenas do you play at that allows you to max out a 100w Marshall onstage? I would not dream of playing on 10 if it were not for the power scaling, that the reason I got this amp -- Sun Jul 17, 2011 7:09 am -- even when Yngwie played in the House of Blues A...

Re: Solo Boost Solution

The problem with the guitar volume nob approach is that it cleans up the tone. The ultimate solution would be to get a mod done that would enable 2 different levels on the power scaling but that would invalidate the warranty!!! I think I read somewhere on this or the jvm forum of a guy saying he was...

Solo Boost Solution

First of all, Hi folks, I have been reading posts on this forum since the announcement of the YJM100 and top respect to Surf for the videos he put on Youtube from NAMM. Anyway,. I finally took delivery of my YJM100 this week and am really pleased with it. It had all the specs to be the ultimate amp ...
