I know a lot of people like the G1275's but their not my favorite with the JMD. To my ears the JMD is a bright amp, and combined with the 75's is an icepick on the top end. If you decide to mix speakers, beware that V30's have a high SPL rating(I.E Loud), so most speaker you mix them with,, your onl...
I've got cabs with V30's and classic lead 80's that I use with the JMD. Overall I like the 80's. Good all round neutral tone, that allows you to take advantage of the variety of tones you can get out the JMD. One thing I really like about them is they don't change tone much at different volume level...
From a live use perspective...
Just get you cheap midi controller like the Rolls Midi Buddy. Plug this and the factory switch in at the same time. Use the midi for patch changes, and the factory pedal in switch mode. They both play together without issues.
1) A rack version , with an improved Emulated Out that doesn't have issues going direct to the P.A. (not too hot), 2) Update the Midi functions . I.E. USB/PC software for saving presets. Be able to assign a Midi Channel of 1-16, so you could use it with other Midi equipment a little easier. My inter...
Surf, Steve, anybody. I normally run the Master Volume at about 6 and control overall Volume with the Preamp Vol. :Scotland :Scotland Thanx, TWIN. Like the others said,,,, do the opposite. Use the preamp volume to balance things between presets. (Normally I set mine somewhere between 11:00-1:00). T...
Jimmy Buffett makes millions off his franchise restaurants and his Margaritaville apparel. Hell I own some myself. Never visited his place yet (well I have been to Cabo Wabo numerous times). Good for him. I like living vicariously through him. Not a rum drinker myself, in fact I hate the shit but I...
Had a set of the Tung Sol EL34B's in a JMD-1 for about a year. (Lot of hours). No complaints, Quiet, and has a nice warm tone. Closest thing to my main guitar tone is, Mick Jones of Foreigner. Been using Tong Sol's in my other amps for quite awhile. So far, it's the only brand, I haven't had a failu...
Stopped using OD pedals a few years ago. Much prefer to just use an amp with 2 or more channels instead. Everytime I go back and try an OD pedal, it just sounds buzzy, fizzy, compressed, lost EQ, or just plain colors the tone. On the other hand, sometimes you need that "colored" tone to match a cove...
I've got a 79 LP custom. The tuners and pickups look correct to me. Make sure you check the frets and neck carefully. If it's got the low frets (fretless wonder), there's not much room for leveling. If it has the classic LP hump where it meets the body, you won't be able to fix it without new frets....
FWIW, whatever cab you buy, be careful that the speakers you get are not really bright, as the JMD is much brighter sounding than many Marshalls. I have to have the presence on mine around 2 or 0 when used with my 2X12 V30/Wizard cab,................. +1 Had the same experience. Finally swapped out...
