Some Expensive KT66 tubes!

$550 for a pair of tubes is way out of my price range, but if anybody wants some old NOS KT66's.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/factory-matched-pair-CV1075-KT66-GEC-NOS-new-box-/300880873735?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D6505150311850618476%2...

Re: Similarities & differences between VM & JTM45/Bluesbreak

Bluefrog (and other JTM45 and VM owners):

I've never owned or played a JTM45. Does the VM in LDR mode sound close to a JTM45? I think that was the design objective for the LDR mode, right? Frankly, I almost always play in HDR, so just curious about this.

Re: My new VM 2466

Welcome, glad you like it! Yes the VM takes some experimenting. You already discovered the Master Volume needs to be up, and the Detail needs to be higher than the Body. (I set my Detail at 2:00 and Body at 10:00 in HDR mode). Try maxing, or almost maxing, the mid knob with the Mid Boost button off....

Re: 2266 head and cleans - contradiction?

LDR is always clean for me, even with a Les Paul, unless I max the gain, max the guitar volume and hit it hard. Does your guitar have really hot pickups?

Re: 2266c Penta KT66 Power tubes

I found the Pentas to be better than the Shuguangs. I know they're made in the Shuguang factory. Maybe just my imagination, but I thought they were brighter and had more definition.

Re: Is the VM still around???

I'm glad I have my 2266. Love the beautiful HDR distortion tone at a moderate volume. Just right. Thank you Steve, good job!

PS - guess we better stock up on KT66 tubes. I don't know of another amp that uses them.

Re: Tremolo Pedal in VM Effects Loop?

I use a T-Rex tremster with my VM. In front of the amp, not in the loop though. I'm curious why not in the loop? Because all your other pedals are in front and you don't want to have two sets of pedals? (That would be reason enough for me). Or did you try it in the loop and not like it? Or found th...

VM not a metal amp? Think Again.

I'm, um... let's say, over 30. By more than a year or two. OK, a lot over 30. Not really a metal guy. Some young rockers moved in next door. I invited the guitar player over yesterday to play my Les Paul through my VM2266. I fired up the High Dynamic Range, Detail 2:00, Body 10:00. He played metal r...

Re: Soon to be the proud owner of a VM 2266 head

Congrats! The main thing I had to learn when I got mine was to set the Detail 2-4 clicks higher than the Body. And I'm not a fan of the mid-boost button, although I dime the mid knob. The rest you dial in depending on the guitar and your personal taste in tone. Experiment, have fun, and let us know ...

Re: Considering a VM

Greetings! I have a 2266 head. I haven't used the effects loop much so can't answer that one. Regarding these two questions: 2. The master volume options on the JVM are a nice for solo boosting and for switching between my Strat and LP. Does anyone utilize the low dynamic range on the VM with OD pe...

Tremolo Pedal in VM Effects Loop?

Any VM owners on the forum who like to use tremolo occasionally? Any of you use a tremolo pedal in the VM's effects loop? If so what tremolo pedal(s) would you recommend? Or are all y'all just rockers? :ha ha

I'm with you on that. My old 1990 Fender Twin has external bias test points and triim pot on the back. So convenient. And safe.

Re: Soon to be proud owner of a 2266c

Main thing I had to learn when I first got my 2266 was to turn the Detail 3-4 ticks higher than the Body. My 2266 also arrived with a dead bulb. I wrote marshall.service@marshallamps.us and they told me to order part# M-bulb-00007 from tubesandmore.com. So I did. It cost $8.55 plus shipping. I remem...

Re: Finally came back to Marshall and the 2266C

Welcome to the Forum! To solve the bass problem, set the Body 2-4 ticks lower than the Detail, depending on your guitar. If the Body is equal to the Detail the sound will be bassy and dull. I have a 2266 head, and with a Les Paul I like the Detail at 2:00 and the Body at 10:00 (High Dynamic Range mo...
