Re: Haze 40 crashed

No. The were the Chinese/Marshall branded stock tubes. Apparently, I needed to change them after only 25 hours of use. Tubes fail from time to time. But until now, I have never heard of them doing damage to the other circuits. I have seen a couple of other reports where tubes are damaging other circ...

The honeymoon is over . . .

So, I have had the JTM-1C for about a week now. I had the chance to play it live behind a Senn E609 mic. It sounded fairly good. A little thin, but I had very poor EQ control on the make-shift PA. Then, I took it to a rehearsal and played without a mic. This was a bad idea. The tunes we played requi...

Re: Haze 40 crashed

How about your Orange amp? How's that been workin' out for you? Frankly, the Rocker 30 ended a 10+ year search for that "perfect" amp. I have bought everything that you can imagine. Some amps I loved, some amps were just "there". Eventually, I came to realize that I was looking for that Marshall so...

Re: Haze 40 crashed

The amp only has less than 100 hours. I have so many other amps that I play often. I have never gigged with this amp. The first one I bought crapped out on me on stage the first performance. I exchanged it for this one. That might be how I lost track of the original receipt. As far as cranking, I pl...

Re: Haze 40 crashed

Whew !!!!! Turns out is was a simple case of the speaker lead becoming disconnected. I hope there are NO more problems with this amp. I am very "gun-shy" about every little incedent now. Whew !!!!! JimDep: I bought this amp about the end of 2009. I for the life of me, cannot remember who I bought i...

Re: Haze 40 crashed

CRAP !!!!!! I had an urge to play my Haze 40 today during my lunch break today. I brought the amp home Wednesday and had not play it except at the repair shop on Wednesday. The first thing I noticed, the switch light did not come on immediately. I had good sound and the tubes were glowing. But abou...

Re: Haze 40 crashed

Well, my amp tech called today. He confirmed that the output tubes went bad and caused runaway voltage through the bias resistors. He replaced the tubes, the burned up resisitors then set the bias - $156 . Not too pleased since I was already attempting to sell this amp for a significant $ loss. Now ...

It turns out, that he over extended himself with his wife's patience when he also bought two new Les Pauls.

Re: NAD for JMP ends in failure

@gordman:

Did the new FS-1 fuse fix the problem?

Would the bad tube be the cause of the blown fuse? As obvious as this might sound, I tend to want to know for sure in case this happens to me.

Re: JMP1 head or combo?

Has anyone tried the output in the low setting, direct into a PA channel (stage situation)? I know that these are easy to use as preamps into another amplifier input. Just wondering about the dangers/quality of going direct?

Re: JMP1 head or combo?

Thanks Muely. You have given me some hope that this is going to be a good decision. I played the JTM1 head at GC the other day. It sounds awesome. However, they only had it connected to a 1960AV cabinet. To me, that was a significant mismatch. The Vintage 30s are a tighter and brighter speaker. I ha...

JMP1 head or combo?

As much as I like combos, I really don't care for 10" speakers. The 10" speaker was the big turn off for me when I auditioned a Class 5. Someone is bound to ask what it was that I didn't like about that rig. The 10" speakers always sound farty/flabby to my ears. I hear too much 6~9 kHz that is comin...

Haze 40 crashed

My Haze 40 just crapped out on me. I smelt resistor smoke. I opened the back and found R26 & R42 burned up. These are the resistors located in the EL34 bias section. Any ideas on why these resistors failed? Why are these amps so unreliable? Is there a kit to stabilize them? I love the sound of this ...
