Re: Freddie King ES-345 or ES-355 Signature Model?

Perhaps. But Wanda is passionate about her father and wants to continue to carry the torch for him. She is the one that contacted Gibson. Gibson probably gets a LOT of requests for Signature models. So why not plea with them on your father's behalf? I think many Signature models start out as a grass...

Freddie King ES-345 or ES-355 Signature Model?

Wanda King is Freddie King's Daughter. She still lives in Dallas area and she performs routinely around town. She has a wonderful personality and loves the association with her famous father. This morning, she posted on Facebook this message: Gibson and Fender Guitar have plenty of signature and cus...

Re: Price of JCM1-H

The prices seem to be on the slide upward to a small degree. I have the first three combos. But I have strongly considered selling the JCM-1C. At one point, I was seeing some sell for as low as $425 (used). But now the used ones seem to be steadily over $600. Some folks are getting a premium on the ...

Re: 50th amp supply - getting scarce?

Thanks for the input folks! @Blues_N_Cues - There were none available for me to demo at the time. In the past 18 months, I still have not seen another in person (other than mine). I hate buying amps just to demo. I actually had high hopes of buying for keeps. @Cousin Muely - I don't feel that it is ...

50th amp supply - getting scarce?

I have the first 3 50th Anniversary amps. I really went out on a financial limb by buying 3 amps in this price category. I really like the JTM-1C & JMP-1C. But the JCM-1C is more gritty than my playing style. So, I have like 30 minutes playing time on my JCM-1C. I have wanted to resell it ever since...

Re: I shouldn't have done it . . .

I have mic'd my JMP-1C and piped it through my home studio monitors (M-Audio BX8a) with a touch of large room reverb effect. This is an excellent sound. But there is still not much clean. But it sort of sounds like Roland electronic drums in a live situation. Not a bad sound, but something is differ...

I shouldn't have done it . . .

Yesterday, I was noodling around with my R9 & JMP-1C. I have had it for a while and had gotten used to the sound for the most part. I made the mistake of attempting to compare the sound to my 1979 50W MV head with 4x12 greeback cabinet. I knew there would be an obvious difference. But I was not prep...

Re: Santiago and Slash interview on the SL5

My concern is the image Marshall will project towards one artist when there are so many more you could use. I agree. Often, there is too much emphasis on a single endorsement. On the other hand, Fender tends to get too many endorsement models. But if we were talking about more name dropping, I woul...

Re: Anderton's demo of the SL-5

I found the official demo after I listened to the Anderton's demo. As far as my comments about the mic placement and the quality of player demonstration, I like the official demo better by a long shot:

Re: Anderton's demo of the SL-5

The demo sounded OK. Yet, the microphones made the sound too close and direct. On a stage or studio, the guitar will generally be slid back in the mix. This video makes for a transparent audio presentation. But this sound is rarely heard live or in studio. I think that is the #1 issue with most demo...

Re: Some SL-5 details

I HATE the argument, "We must stay competitive". I heard it from a V.P. at a large company that I used to work for. He said it in a company meeting with about 250 of us in the room. Ironically, neither he, myself & 40% of the others in that room are still at that company (6 years later). They will s...
