Sounds great. Nice recording generally.

Re: I think the vast majority of Haze problems are tubes- bi

Biasing on the Haze was an issue. I designed it with two bias pots to allow a greater spread in valve specs. The upshot was that it sometimes happened that the operator would adjust the wrong bias pot and send out an amp with wildly incorrect biasing. The other main problem with the Haze was the dod...

Re: Marshall Haze 40C Bias problem

Hi, Can I first check that you have found the fact there are two bias pots, one for each valve. There is a three way connector that allows you to read the current going through each valve, which means you dont really need your BiasPro. Take the EL34s out and measure the bias voltage on pin 5 of each...

Re: JTM1 - Does it like single coils?

It certainly does. The main guitar used in the development of the amp was a custom shop 61 relic Strat.

Re: Biasing a Haze 15

Yes, you could use miss matched 6V6s because of the separate bias controls.

Re: Some more technical information on the 1 watt range

Thanks for the clarification regarding the 12AX7, James. When you refer to the ECC82 / 12AT7, isn't that an ECC81? You lost me a bit there. Yes you are right - the 12AT7 is the ECC81. When you were developing the JCM and decided to have two ECC83 and one ECC82 valves, did it take a while to find th...

Re: Some more technical information on the 1 watt range

Hi,

You can put a 12AX7 in the power amp of the JCM1... but it doesn't sound very good...

Both the JCM1 and the JTM1 can take an ECC82 / 12AT7 in the power amp. It has a bit more gain and a little bass.

Re: R77 mod - bright onther

Yes, this can be done, but the resistor is R58 on the 15. To truly bypass the bright switch on the 15, C49 would also need to be removed (C49 on the 40)

Re: Some inside baseball info on the JTM1 and JCM1

Hi,

The easiest way to cool down the output of the 1 watt amps is to make, or get made, a cable with a resistor across one of the jacks. I would try either a 22 ohm or a 15 ohm soldered inside the jack plug of the lead and the level should be about right.
