Re: NAD - Marshall JVM410

From what you're saying, it sounds like you've got a nice beefy cab and speakers for it.
Most people run the eq section and presence only on about 2 to fatten the tone out.

Re: NGD Malmsteen Strat

Nice guitar, I had an older model with Dimarzio pickups, and agree with you about it being a fantastic player. Vibrato is so much easier with this neck, along with legato runs, though I did have to play with a lighter touch because there's no wood to cushion the fingertips, you're literally playing ...

Sympathy to you Dana's blues, I know well how you feel, we're now on our 5th and 6th rescue spaniels, and yes they are our children in so many ways, but I know their time here is limited. They add so much to our lives, despite being very tying, getting us out for excersise and meeting people we woul...

Re: Quad Cortex… just got one

Good review Torshalla, and congrats on this purchase. GAS haha, yeah we know that so well. And your review coming from a long term Kemper user, means all the more, you know what you're talking about. What amazes me is, it's taken all these years for another product to match the Kemper, it also amaze...

I think the Mex player strat would be a solid purchase, correct woods, alnico pickups. Very comfortable to play, trem is fun too.

Re: Classic driven Marshall tones, without an amp!

Yeah the amp has to be in 0.1w mode, not to need a speaker load, but it's a great option for creative people.
I remember Surf using a jmp1 into a jtm1 then into a power amp, it sounded fantastic to me.

Re: Classic driven Marshall tones, without an amp!

Yes you did influence me with your Tube Driver pedal, and you often do for that matter. The "essentials" above in Cousin's reply is referring to my 26 drive pedals and 9 fuzz pedals, just the essentials, nothing more haha. One thing if you're going to use the 50ths as pre amps into Helix, watch the ...

Makes me want to try my Tube Driver into my JTM1 or JMP1 @ .1 (No Speaker Needed) into my Helix and do what your doing from there.
That sounds interesting, and would give you lots of options too.

Re: Classic driven Marshall tones, without an amp!

Thanks Torshalla,
And yeah, you're probably right about the Kemper.
I've often thought about it, but currently I don't have funds for something that expensive.

I think for now, my pedal rig will be good enough, especially as you think it sounds awesome, and so do I.

Re: Classic driven Marshall tones, without an amp!

Thanks Fullbend, and yeah, I'd agree about a real mic and amp/speaker being the best. However, I need a very quiet ans light weight recording setup, and simply used what gear I already had. I don't know why it sounds as good as it does really. The valve pedal and blue box seems a good combination. H...

Classic driven Marshall tones, without an amp!

Hi guys, here's a clip of what I'm using these days to start recording again. This lovely Marshall tone is all from pedals, apart from reverb which is added post in the DAW. Signal path is; Yamaha RGX312 in D tuning, Boss Power Stack, Blackstar Blackfire Valve distortion (Gus G sig) , stereo delay o...

Ha, that's good fun, and a very clear recording, well done.

I understand the sentiment too, as the US and mainland Europe are burning up.

Re: Xotic EP Boost That Pedal Show

Good vid, it really shows how that subtle boost helps the tone along, and gets closer to the original EP3 unit.

I think in the 70's every rock player was looking for that 3db extra boost for the amps of the day, like Angus with the early wireless unit.

"I tried to play like Jimi, but my teeth weren’t long enough"

You should follow Nigel Tufnel's advice, make a plectrum from your hair for the best tone, it's organic.
