Re: DSL1 YJM Strat arpeggios and diminished ect

Yeah drums are my weakness just now.

I'm in the process of getting ezdrummer 2 and Reaper.
Will take a while to get up to speed.

Re: DSL1 YJM Strat arpeggios and diminished ect

Thanks Fullbend, yeah you're right on both accounts. Noticeably lower gain than the JVM, and it's more flexible too with that Sweet clean channel. It's a more modern clean than the JTM1, and easier to find, as the JTM breaks up so much more quickly. Your ES175 is a wonderful guitar, must sound great...

DSL1 YJM Strat arpeggios and diminished ect

Hi guys, I'm always trying to learn and improve my mixes. Since getting an Ampeg bass preamp, things have improved a little. Here I wanted to test the DSL1 and Strat in a mix. The amp is almost completely flat out. I had to push the mids a bit on the amp, a Strat needs it while a Les Paul wouldn't. ...

Yeah I like the idea of it, but the price is just silly.

Re: NAD! DSL20HR

Well since you're having so much fun with the new DSL 20, you've made me dust down the 2012 DSL1H to revisit it. Why have I not used this amp more often? If the new 1w sounds as good as this, what a fantastic home recording rig. Here I'm using it on 0.1w straight into the Blubox speaker emulator set...

Re: So what kind of pick-ups should y get for a hot strat

A friend of mine made a cheap strat from parts,
and put some Bare Knuckles Irish Tours in it.
Sounded fantastic. Gives a kick compared to the stock pups, but not over the top.
Well balanced in tone.

Re: Bad News For The Astoria Line..

Not sure about all that Dave.
I think only the Jubilee's and the Satch jvm and all HW amps will stop.

Re: Messing with AmpliTube

They've improved a lot over the years, and this doesn't sound bad.
It certainly has the high end sorted now which is good.
And they're fun to mess around with.

Re: My new Ampeg bass preamp

Haha, thanks T, I'm so glad you can hear the difference in the bass.
The JCM800 is great for that tight crunch tone, with no flab. Supported by a good bass, it sits well in a mix.

Re: Gulp..........ok then............

I like these sort of pedals, but the most I'd pay is about £300.
It's going the same way as the Klon, silly.

Re: My new Ampeg bass preamp

Thanks Pete glad you like it.
Do you know any good bass overdrives?
All my guitar ones take away bass, and the built in Scrambler is a bit odd or harsh.

Re: RCA 12ax7

I'm not sure, I was recording with master volume on about 7, when it made a monster sound. I had noticed it was lacking gain, so pushed it harder, when it fizzled out. No bang or anything, just a noise then silence. Being a rock n roller, I just grabbed another amp and carried on recording. Didn't w...
