Re: A couple things

I am predicting a 1watt or 5watt blues breaker handwired. I'm curious to what it actually takes to step a 100watt amp down to a 5watt. And why it couldn't be in the same circuit? Maybe just too unpractical I figure.

Re: Design your own amp

that's actually a pretty smart idea. The only problem would be the cab design since significant tone comes from the cab. You would have to create a airtight seal between the poweramp and the first 2x12 cab. same with the second cab.

Re: Design your own amp

I think their would be a market if their was a way to make amps more lightweight. I know Marshall uses wood, and the transformers themselves weigh quite a bit, but if their was a way to make them more lightweight without losing the look or tone. Someone is gonna take these million dollar ideas an us...

Re: VM - Remote (wireless) mode switching

Maybe nobody has actually sat down and figured it out to actually do it. But it seems like a great idea, The hardest part is pry the way your going to have it work with the amp, unless you can plug the receiver up to the back of the amp and then from there match the freq signal the foot switch gives...

Re: Little more about Astoria

I notice a slight tone difference when I try different capacitor values on my handwired clones using alligator clips on jumper leads before soldering it in.....just a few inches of wire changes the capacitance....vs soldered straight to the turret. Wire is resistance which effects the capacitance. ...

Re: Convert from Euro to US Voltage

European Power Runs at 50Hz as well, So I believe you'd have to do more then a stepdown transformer, since the circuit would be designed for a slower frequency

Re: Axl Rose Onstage Moments...what not to do

Yeah I can see him going home due to objects being flown on stage. It is ballsey for the whole band to back Axl up though. I wonder what the other guys in the band say to him after they leave shows like that? Or the promoter.

Re: Stacking Amp Heads

As long as their is room for air to flow between the amps it should be fine, 1inch is typically all you need although more would be better if playing for long periods of time, one thing you can do is extend the amp raisers from the bottom of the pt to increase the distance between the two amps; if i...

Re: Treated Fingerboards

I think it looks good personally, and with a custom guitar the whole idea behind it is to have something nobody else has. I think the 3rd picture looks beautiful as far as with the blue guitars i like the last image that was posted. And Carvin isn't paying tribute to the founder, the son Jeff Kiesel...

Re: JTM45 loudness

Theoretically speaking, disregarding cabinets and speakers; hence this will also play a significant role in the maximum sound output. For say you are playing through a 4x12 cabinet. A good number gathered from actual testing on a 100 watt half stack is approximately 123 dB. 50watt half stack is 120d...

Re: Best Marshall

I would say blending the 6100 LE, YJM and TSL100 all together. I usually play through the YJM matched with the TSL though. If I was to pick just one amp it would be the TSL100, I love the clean and lead channel on it. Best tone is from the JMP1 though in my opinion or the jtm45 tremelo
