Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

Thanks you guys for your help. Its complicated to try several heads living in Chile because there isnt good stock. There are some models but just a few and the shops not have a returning policy. Only a few brands too. I discard the possibility of buy an external attenuator because I dont have the mo...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

Hi guys, I have news. I returned the 1960b cab and I exchanged it for a Laney GS412PS with V30'S. The Marshall was prettier and it had a special power but the g12-t75 alone are not enough for me. For the record I found them tasteless in the mid departament. Its truth that they lacks mids. The good t...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

I have news: I was right :). Today my amp was revised and I have at least 1 microphonic preamp tube. Maybe can be 2. I love the tone of a boosted plexi marshall but I knew that something was strange even when I never played a bosted plexi head hehe. If the fizzy noise residue behind the tone is elim...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

I recorded one improvisation in order to demonstrate that the tone has a fizzy aspect that I dont enjoy. The main tone is very good but behind him there is residue of a permanent fizzy noise and in general is not like I heared in the demos. I used the EPA at max with 0.05 for this clip because is la...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

I appreciate the good intention. I like better the tone with the EPA at max that with the EPA at 50% because the unwanted noise is amplified and very prominent when I turn loud the amp. Im really sure that when I resolve this I'll be very, very happy with this head. I have not recorded yet but I hav...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

Thanks for the input guys. Yesterday before bedtime I turned on the amp resigned and played a little with the RG1527z... for first time it sounds very, very good. With the Bost On maxed, Gate Off and a little of reverb (1/4) with almost all setings at 12 o'clock with the EPA at 0.05 in 50 watt mode ...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

Today I dimmed both volumes and turned the EPA to 50% without and with boost and the tone was very bad. The louder the amp, the worst the tone that Im getting. Is thin, cold, not elastic, not enough responsive, not enough saturated and the Gate not work too well. Im trying to get a good tech that ca...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

I have a RG1527z (Ibanez 7 string) and its the same. Its very cold the sound. And the Boost sonds like a Pod. In the demo of N'Stuff music he is using a stratocaster with single coils and the tone is a lot (but really a lot) warmer than what Im getting. I saw all the reviews, I know them from memory...

Re: Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

Thanks for your help. Today I played, investigated and do everything that I can to made my tone better. I dont achieved good tone. Im sure that something is wrong, I cant believe that this amp sounds like this, even that I know that Im using the epa agressively at 1/4 - 2/4 max I dont believe that t...

Bad tone with YJM100 + 1960B

Hi :), I really need opinions. Today I bought a 1960B cabinet. I chose that cabinet for some reasons: in the video reviews from Marshall is used a 1960A (I think) with the YJM100, because Yngwie preffer the 1960 (that information is in various threads) and because a lot of users recommended that com...

Re: Is the YJM100 the amp for me? or should I buy a 2203?

Thanks guys. Its a BIG giant amp. Its intimidating in a good way. Its look pro and its like a music monument that scream "dont fuck with me, Im the Boss of the final stage :sport ". One bad thing about the method of shipping is that the amp in the box for the front and for the back dont have any pro...

Re: Is the YJM100 the amp for me? or should I buy a 2203?

Today I got the YJM100. It arrived at my country on 27. I needed to hire a custom agent. I chose to go to the airport and get it myself. If I had waited for the normal process, today UPS had moved it to headquartered and maybe tomorrow, probably on Thuesday I would have received my package. But the ...

Re: Is the YJM100 the amp for me? or should I buy a 2203?

That sounds correct, but technically the standby switch is considered to be on when the amp is in standby. Once the standby switch is turned off sound will come through the speakers and the amp is on. The basic cheap Marshall speaker cable does come with the amp. The red patch cord is not a cheap o...

Re: Is the YJM100 the amp for me? or should I buy a 2203?

Congratulations on the amp Tritono, I am sure you will love it. With all tube amps you need to turn the power switch on first and wait 30 or 60 seconds to let the tubes heat up before taking the amp off Standby. Do the reverse when you turn the amp off and put the amp on standby for a few seconds b...
