Re: Head box

I'm thinking it is shielding against electrical interference; IIRC, it gets grounded by the chassis being bolted into contact. I don't have my JMD1 head here to check this, but I believe that's the case. If it's a head, then the heat would rise up, so being under the chassis it would pretty much be ...

Re: JMD Clean Tone Settings

With humbuckers: preamp 2 gain 5 Bass 9 mid 6 Treb 7-8 Rev 3-4, and slight analog delay. I find I have to adjust the EQ around quite a bit depending on exact P.U. used. (mostly 57 or 57+) Double Plus liked this setting... I need to back off the bass, but this is a very sparkly clean with my darkest...

Re: JMD Clean Tone Settings

PLEASE don't any one take offence but IMHO, this is about a couple of considerations that almost come BEFORE amp settings... as many of you know, I'm belaboring the obvious but I'm just feeling annoying today. Also, Dieter and others have mentioned using multiple amps; many including Eric Johnson an...

Re: Broken JMD 102 cabinet... What to do?

I was in your exact situation... here's a post to what I did. It was a fair amount of work, but it was very very well worth it. Still using the amp (and LOVING it!!). My JMD 102 Stack and a Half So much so that I bought a JMD 100watt head and a 1960A to hold it up in the air!! Glad I did, these thin...

Re: Picture of my pimped JMD with Marshall JVMC212

Looks great! I have some materials left over from my JMD1 2x12" rebuild, and a couple of nice 10" speakers sitting around, you may have inspired me to build a 2 x10" or 2 x12" cabinet to go with the JMD1 head. That 1960A looks and sounds great, but a smaller cab would be useful!! zozolondon123, I'd ...

Re: My Pedal Board setup

Yeah, that would be really nice to just use the amp, a wah, and a tuner... someday maybe I'll grow up and get there. So, not using the pedal switch? But in the mean time, the built in chorus doesn't work for me, not at all. Maybe for a warble effect... I really like having a volume pedal, especially...

My Pedal Board setup

Hi all, recently used my JMD1 "half-stack and a half" at a Bike Night gig in York, PA. The amp sounded a-freakin-mazing. bike night stack n crowd.jpg I'm using the JMD1 controller to turn things on and off per the labels (clear scotch tape with Sharpie marker is a great non-permanent solution), and ...

Re: Comparison: Foot controller JMD vs. MIDI FSM432 MKII

Dieter, that's a good workable setup, kind of like what I'm using. A couple of things about power over midi... If you look at a lot of commercial midi cables, they only actually use the center 3 connectors (and sometimes only 2 insulated wires and a ground in the cable itself, as that's all that MID...

Re: Marshall Tube codes

I'm not the expert... but I will tell you my amp worked, it played, but when I went to bias it, I couldn't on one side, and then I noticed that one of the bias resistors had a hole burned in the side of it (R49). All I know to be sure is, try to bias it (it's a good idea to check it anyway, I've not...

Re: Input jack issue?

The JMD does not have any preamp tubes, the single 12AX7 is the phase inverter for the power amp. It is possible this tube could be bad or loose, and it would not be wasted effort to try a swap to see if it helps. I have not heard or read any other reports of intermittents as you describe. It could...

Re: Input jack issue?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry for your troubles! Hang in there, it's a great amp! I'd say Ritchie has a line on it... Check the tube to make sure it's lit; and that it's seated fully, not loose. The pops and fizzles sound like another Marshall amp I had with a preamp tube gone bad. If you can locate (...

Re: JMD 501 with JTM 60 grill cloth

It looks really great!! Having just recently done Marshall grille cloth on my mutated JMD102, I can tell you, you did a REALLY NICE JOB installing that cloth. I don't think its an easy task to get it tight and straight. Mario: wow, is that one BEAUTIFUL Les Paul!! Mine is black... yours is gorgeous!...

Re: JMD1 half-stack & a half

Super nice job there, Les! I've been thinking about doing up a proper cab for my 100w head, using Birch plywood and the elephant hide Tolex. You've just given me the added motivation that I need. I'm inclined that way too with my 100 watt head. There's nothing wrong with the cabinet for the head, i...

Re: Two JMD1s, one foot controller!

Midi would certainly do it, I was curious how it would work with one foot controller, and it does. You can turn off effects, etc. depending on how you setup/assign the front panel items (just like normally, except you can then change whatever on both amps). Without carrying an additional controller....

Two JMD1s, one foot controller!

I don't know if anyone has posted this before, but with a simple "Y" splitter, I'm controlling both my JMD1s at the same time. So you COULD get a really interesting stereo image by having different patches stored to the same location (on different amps).

Just sayin.
