Re: Yet another bias/plate voltage question

OK, thanks. I assume the extra ma are for the screen volts included in the pin readings?

Yet another bias/plate voltage question

Hey-
I've seen the threads where Marshall/Steve D say the 2266 can be biased around 45ma. But, using my usual bias calculations and 25 as the tube's max):

25/430 (PV) * .70 = 40ma bias. So, why 48?

Re: Modded the indicator light!

I actually put the purple light back in! I missed the strange blue light, it's a Vintage Modern thing I guess!

Re: New Olde Amp Day

Yeah, definitely like a JTM45 with a gain mod. Either use it as a JTM45, for clean, or with a pedal for more gain - OR, hit the high range switch and start out with a modded JTM45. It's really one or the other, making the foot switch silly.

Modded the indicator light!

Didn't like the bright purple LED in my eyes, so I installed a classic Marshall red one!

2466 mid boost - change the frequency?

Just curious, the mid boost in it's current state is useless with hum buckers, way too much low end boosted. Is there a way to turn the mid boost into a high-mid boost - similar to putting a .68 bypass cap on V1 of a JMP ? I'm hoping a change in a resistor or cap in the mid boost could accomplish th...

Re: Get Your Tube Combinations for the 50ths Here

Hey-

I just got a JVM1H, and would love to know which tube is power, which is PI?? I've never seen an amp with tubes placed all over the chassis, in no order!?

I have also discoverd I need to use a mirror to see where to put the tubes back in their sockets :bitching .

Re: JMP1 power tubes test - mucho samples!

Does the tone change using only 1 power tube (12AX7 or AT7)? According to Marshall you should get a bit more gain, but actually I didn't notice it. There's a volume drop. The tone is quite the same, but harmonically poorer I think - at least that's what it seems to me. To me, harmonically poorer = ...

Re: Six Marshalls, Sound Check, you decide

The 6100 sounds pretty good, right know I have it paired with a 1960B cab, I am thinking Vin30s are the correct speaker for this amp. I also have to retube the entire amp, I just don't know how long the tubes have been in there or how the bias is set. They are all GT tubes in it now. Going to take ...

Re: JMP1 power tubes test - mucho samples!

I like the chimey tone with the added 12AX7 and stock tubes! Does the 12AX power tube lower the overall volume?

Re: Wet/Dry setup possible?

I hear ya, and if I didn't already have a Marshall half stack with an extra speaker for my wet side, it would make sense. But my space is limited, and if I can't use the 2x12 as a wet dry cab, I'll just skip the wet side and maybe try a reverb pedal in front - if and when I get a JMP-1H.

Re: 1-watter power tube question?

Yes the ECC** valves in the 1 Watt amps power section are being run at a much higher dissipation than they would in a typical preamp so by rights should wear faster. Hard to say how long they'll last though, might be a year, might be 10. Time will tell. Thanks Steve. It's a new 1-watt world I guess!

Wet/Dry setup possible?

I am plotting the purchase of a JMP-1 head, and was wondering if the following setup would work: Cab = 1936 2x12 (mono 8ohms / stereo 16) Swart Night Light attenuator w/ line out Alesis FX unit (reverb, chorus, delay) small power amp unit My plan would be to run from the 16ohm speaker out, into the ...
