Re: 2466 and Boss SD-1

Reviving an old thread, but just wanted to pop in and say that the SD-1 matches great with the VM. I have the combo and mainly use LDR. HDR doesn't clean up as well for me with my Les Paul. I was using an EP booster . Sounded great with my Tele (now sold) but I didn't like it as much with the LP. Ad...

Has anyone actually modded the Boost to be footswitchable?

Saw a post by SteveD about putting a relay in place of or with the Boost switch to make it work with the footswitch. I'd rather have this than DR switching.

Has anyone done this? Should I be the
guinea pig?

Re: foot switch for the Mid boost option

Hey there, does anybody know how to mod the 2266 to have a foot switchable Mid boost option? I would even sacrifice my Reverb switch for it...... Ta, D :wtf Welcome to the forum Paulator. :Thumbs It's always possible to mod anything to do anything. To do what you're asking you would need to fit a r...

Re: Has anyone modified their VM?

I really wish they would have made the mid-boost footswitchable instead of the channels. That would have made a great lead boost.

Maybe you could look into that and let us know if it's a simple mod?

I haven't seen one like that using 2 resistors. Interesting.

Re: Those of you that plug straight in - do you have 50's wi

I have tried the treble bleed mod before. It had an artificialness, for lack of a better word, that I didn't really like. Although I didn't try many different values. I used the cap/resistor values that Acme uses with their "kit".

Re: Those of you that plug straight in - do you have 50's wi

I lowered my neck pickup and it helps, but I'll probably just get another Seth for the neck or look into the 57 Classic - they seem to be well liked also.

Re: Those of you that plug straight in - do you have 50's wi

I think I might just need a lower output, clearer neck pickup to do that Jimmy Page clean neck, dirty bridge thing he demonstrates in "It Might Get Loud". I've got a Seth Lover bridge which is great, but the stock Gibson 490R in the neck. This is what I'm referring to... [youtube]http://www.youtube....

Those of you that plug straight in - do you have 50's wiring

For those that use your guitar's volume controls to go from clean to mean on the HDR channel, do you find 50's wiring gives you optimal results? I've done 50's wiring on other guitars, but my current LP is one of those with the pcb layout so it isn't quite as easy as just moving a wire. Probably hav...

Re: I've joined the family with a combo.

Congrats on the buy! How does it compare to the Traynor Blue? I live in the heart of Traynor country (around Toronto, Canada) so those are always going for dirt cheap on the second hand market and I've thought of picking one up. I had a the big Traynor Monster 3 channel head a couple of years ago, ...

I've joined the family with a combo.

Hey everyone. I made a couple of posts but though I'd introduce myself properly. I just picked up a used combo about a week ago and it's an amazing amp. It's right up there with a hand-wired Metropoulos Bluesbreaker I had for a while. In fact, I refer to this amp as the perfect Bluesbreaker because ...

Re: 2266 head and cleans - contradiction?

LDR is always clean for me, even with a Les Paul, unless I max the gain, max the guitar volume and hit it hard. Does your guitar have really hot pickups? My setup is the same way. I can barely get any overdrive from LDR with my LP. In the Marshall demos, he seems to get much more overdrive than I c...

Re: Is the VM still around???

I wouldn't worry about too much about stocking up on KT66's.

I think there are plenty of JTM 45 and clone buyers to keep up demand as well as the Dr. Z Route 66 uses them.

Re: Is the VM still around???

That's a shame. I just picked up a used combo about a week ago and it's an amazing amp. It's right up there with a hand-wired Metropoulos Bluesbreaker I had for a while. In fact, I refer to this amp as the perfect Bluesbreaker because it has more gain on tap, a less bloated low-end and a terrific ma...
