Re: Gibson Les Paul R8

I hear you... i have a huge amount of gas right now lol My GAS has been minimal lately. The only things I'm really looking at are: A powered monitor for the AX8 In ear monitors A super-Start type guitar. Probably a Charvel Pro-Mod. With the current gigging climate, the first two are not high on the...

Nice...

But I have to ask... Are you trying to keep up with the likes of Neal Schon and Joe Bonamassa? :bgrin

Re: Turn to Stone

One of my favorites by him! When I was a teen, listening to Dokken and Ratt, MTV actually turned me onto this on their "Closet Classics" segment. It opened the door for all the 70s stuff that I really like. I've been begging my band for years to do this, but they feel it is too "obscure". :bitching

Re: I got Corona

So the gf and I just got positive test results for Corona... we are ok, we have been pretty sick in March / April and my gf still has mild symptoms (blocked nose and flame particularly in the evenings) But we feel good. Anyway we got the opportunity to get a test and we decided to do it as we wante...

Re: Is this the FUTURE of PEDALS?

Or you can just buy a Kemper....LOL No, its a nice preamp with some useful control. Seems to be a lot of "mid range" boosters starting to be released, I like that you can control the mid frequency on this. The only pedal of my future. I haven't gassed for anything amp/effect related except a powere...

I know to some its Blasphemy but I am not a fan of Eric Claptons music.

Just never did anything for me.
Clapton and the Rolling Stones yield the same response from me: There are a few songs I like, but completely overrated as artists.

Re: 1982 JCM800 2204 Vertical Input Score

I'm guessing this was built for the Canadian market? I had a 4104 (combo version of this amp) and the inside is very different. Mine didn't have that separate board with all the fuses. Canadian amps also had metal power/standby toggles, if I recall.

Re: Klon vs. Klone

When I was using ODs, I was never really a fan of the Tube Screamer. The mid-hump always seemed to dull the sound, at least to my ears. The ODs that got the most use on my board were my stock Boss SD-1 and my modded DS-1. The SD-1 seemed a bit brighter than the TS-9. My DS-1 was modded by way of a W...

Re: Helix or Tube

I've got my eye on the Fractal Audio FM3 for a home studio setup. Seems to be taking forever to hit the market though. Your going to love recording in stereo...no mics is a bonus. For a $1000 I think they are going to sell many of them. I have been living with my Kemper since 2013 now and have no d...

I've got my eye on the Fractal Audio FM3 for a home studio setup. Seems to be taking forever to hit the market though. That unit looks pretty cool... i like the compact format and ability to add modules to it as needed... This is where all the AX8 owners were scratching their heads. They took the f...

Re: Helix or Tube

I was in the same place as you about a year ago. My situation was that I am playing in a cover band that has to cover a lot of different sonic territory. My JCM800 wasn't cutting it, as it is pretty limited sound wise and was too loud for the venues we play. For me, going digital (Fractal AX8) was a...

Once you get it sorted, I recommend this:

D'Addario Auto Lock Strap

The only guitar it doesn't play nicely with is my Firebird.

Re: Gibson Explorer '70 style

I have checked them out already, IMO its not a very good guitar. It felt cheap and it had a sticky feeling back of the neck. This is NOT the same guitar as Sigi bought with the Lizzy Hale model. Hate to be the one to tell you but I would not recommend buying it. I also like the Explorers and Gibson...
