Re: Summer NAMM Gear

The Telecaster is nice.

The tube driven pickup is freaking stupid.

Re: HDR/LDR level mod for Marshall Vintage Modern

Ok, I see your concern. But is there that much difference in volume between the two?

Re: HDR/LDR level mod for Marshall Vintage Modern

A nice place for adjustment or better yet HDR Volume Control would have been to place a 500kA potentiometer at R15 position.
There would be no need for relay, supporting components or power tie-in.

Re: 50% of New Guitarists are Women

I find most up and coming so called men are females or at least feminine.

On another note my wife thought Vai might be gay. I told her I do not think so and that he just kind of acts like that, weird and geeking in a guitar hero type way.

Re: Effects loop Vintage Modern

I am just wondering since Marshall never acknowledges voltages, what is the VDC on that FET/power rail?

Re: Biasing with an O'scope

mickydog5 wrote "I believe that is far above crossover." Hi-Fi stereo amplifiers can be quite different from guitar amps. The scope crossover method has been an industry standard for technicians for a very long time. However there are always exceptions to the rule. Several great technicians that I ...

Well if you want to but if so explain the reason and goal for each modification.

By the way the amplifier has multiple apparatuses for channel switching. They work together.

Re: C16 - 100nF - capacitor right before Fx Loop

Talking about the VOX AC50CPH: The chip you are looking at is IC1. IC1 is part of the switching system for the channels. The chip (part) prior to effects loop is IC2a. IC2a drives the effects loop. Still in no way does these circuits resemble the Marshall, some basic function yes but not the same. T...

Re: C16 - 100nF - capacitor right before Fx Loop

The C37 capacitor in the VOX and the C16 capacitor in the other amplifier have only one thing in common, they are both couplers. C37 is not part of or that close to the effects loop. So besides coupling it is performing filtering/voicing duties. VOX seems to have crap all over the place affecting vo...

Re: Biasing with an O'scope

One example, I have a Hi-Fi tube amplifier. It is stereo with two push-pull fixed bias arrangements. It's specified bias point runs basically at 80%, if you want to look at the percentage method. 7591 at 456VDC idling at 35mA per tube. I believe that is far above crossover. You can see this operatio...

They did not show how each cabinet was recorded. Microphone placement matters.

It also would have been nice to see the actual Celestion "T" numbers on each speaker of each cabinet. There are different versions and this may be another version.
