Re: Marshall 1960AX 4x12 speaker torn?

Finally got around to looking at it just now - been very busy. Well, I think I have fixed it - a paper label had fallen onto one of the cones. After removing it, I could not hear the bad sound any more, so fingers crossed! :bgrin

Marshall 1960AX 4x12 speaker torn?

I've had my Marshall 1960AX 4x12 less than 2 years, and never played above half volume (JTM45). However, on low frequency notes, it's started making a yucky distortion noise. I thought it was the amp, but after plugging into my friend's cab, the noise wasn't there. He said it very much sounded like ...

Re: Good evening - just got a JTM45

From what I've now heard, some of the early models were built based on the KT66.

Re: Good evening - just got a JTM45

The bloke I bought my JTM45 from said the power valves were 2 x KT66. However, looking on the Marshall site, it says 2 x 5881. After Wiki-ing around, I'm a little confused. It seems to say the 5881 is also called the 6L6, but that is definitely different to the KT66. Or is my 1991 model different fr...

Re: Good evening - just got a JTM45

My only issue with this amp is the bottom end - it sounds a bit farty - not a nice sound at all. What about other owners? I've found the best way to run a JTM45 is this: Bass: 2 or less Mids: 10 Treble: 8 I tried a bunch of different settings but found this to work the best. I use only the Normal i...

It sounds very nice - definitely more suited to my JTM45. Even my cloth ears can detect that! :roll :bgrin

Hehe! I took delivery of the cab today, and it's just got tiny scratches - no tears at all! :jam

Re: Gluing tolex

Will do, mate. Stupid courier company unexplicably delayed it, so my son and wife, covering the day at home, wasted their time. :bitching

Gluing tolex

Hi guys, what's the best sort of glue to use to stick down torn tolex please? I should be taking delivery of a new 1960AX cab tomorrow, but it has some small tolex damage - hence £100 off.

Re: Good evening - just got a JTM45

Well, it seems I am on the verge of selling my excess gear. I would appreciate advice on which cab would be most suitable: 425A, 1960AHW, 1960AX or 1960TV.
