Re: 15" speaker in a 1974x?

my idea is based on the Peavey Delta Blues. that little amp sounds MASSIVE with its 15. also, with a decent tech, replacing a baffleboard need not be butchery. but if there's no room, there's no room...

Peter Green/ Gary Moore tones

i tried an LP with the Bare Knuckle PG Blues set today. wow, amazing sounds! i have always thought that LDR/HDR was like toggling back and forth between Peter Green and Gary Moore, but these pickups are a new level. they aren't wax potted, but not squealy at all. just microphonic enough! i'm sold!

describe the VM sound

it's hard to describe a sound with words, but when you read these online descriptions certain terms keep coming up to describe some well known amps. like Bogner- "congested mids", or Orange- "foggy", for example. the VM has such a characteristically unique sound, there has to be some descriptor to f...

dsl100h/40c mods?

is anybody adding a choke or clipping the bright cap on the red channel on these amps? i have played a couple of the old UK-built JCM2000s that had these mods performed, and they were very good. i am considering a project amp, and this one seems like a good candidate. i prefer the plate reverb, and ...

GuitarGuy10, are you on this board to shill other amplifiers? every post you put up mentions Fryettes, Bogners, Boogies, etc..

Re: Attenuator for VM ....

of all "big iron" amplifiers, i think the VM needs an external attenuator the least.

Re: 2466 insanely fat tone

i have both 2266 and 2466 heads, as well as the 2266 combo. they are all super, and have their uses, AFAIC. the real secret ingredient, to me, is the 425 cabinet.

2466 insanely fat tone

i had a chance to gig my 2466 and 425a halfstack recently. this amp is just ridiculously fat. not too often these days do i get the chance to really put the screws to this rig in HDR live, but it was worth the load in and out, for sure. Les Paul->Clyde Std->OCD->input. i had to cut the mid boost out...

I could use some help.........

i quit drinking and smoking last year (2012). not at the same time, but six months apart. i have found that taking on a healthy habit to replace the bad ones is very helpful. i have been doing Bikram Yoga. the first two months, i practiced every day, now, 2-3 times a week. it has been HUGELY benefic...

Re: VM 4 channels switching...

Set LS2 in A-B mode. Set A-line volume pot at about 2 o clock. Set B-line volume pot at 10 o clock. Wire LS2 switch in parallel with VM foot switch. When you go to HDR, LS2 switches to B-line and turns volume down. Next time you go to LDR, LS2 will switch to A-line and turn volume up. I don't know ...

Re: VM 4 channels switching...

there is a big volume difference between HDR and LDR. i think the only useful way to do what you are talking about is to use a Boss LS2, or similar, to switch the booster in and out. the LS2 has separate volumes for on/off, so it will mitigate that difference somewhat.
