Re: JVM HJS - just bought it, kinda unsure if I like it

I recently picked up a JVM HJS for a great price. I agree with the subdued pick attack, but just an FYI, a few very simple mods gets the pick attack some feel the amp is lacking. As Santiago stated, he designed the amp to meet Joe's needs, but with a few simple mods I feel the amp can become the ide...

Re: Loosening Up The JMD (No Mods Required)

Glad you guys are getting some benefit from it. I turn the delay off from time to time, just to compare, it definitely makes things a little more tube-like with it engaged.

Re: PRS SE Santana and tone settings

I've been using preamp model 16 for most of my tones and getting pretty good results. The key is keeping the gain low, I set the treble on 0, mids about half way and bass on 10. Adding some subtle delay can add some fullness.

Re: Bias problem

Usually outer tubes are being paired (1&4) and so inner tubes (2&3) I don't see why would JMD be different. But I could be wrong That is correct the inner 2 are paired and the outer 2 are paired. This does not mean that they share the same bias pot, they don't. The two left tubes are on one bias po...

Re: YJM problems - Noise gate...

I'm hitting my front end with as much much as 36db boost at times without problems. I'd guess that some of the IC's are just faulty and quit service. From what I've read, it may be a combination of boosting the front end while the onboard boost is also engaged. If there is no design issue, you shou...

Re: YJM problems - Noise gate...

Thanks for your advices !! I wish it Will be enough ! In the case of component IC5 getting fried, it's sounding like the most common cause for this is hitting the input of the amp with an external boost while also engaging the onboard boost. If you do not use an external boost on the front end, you...

Yes, it definitely couldn't hurt. Also, unplugging the amp when not in use for a period of time.
