Re: Laney Lionheart and Gibson 335

[quote] [Thanks T, I was thinking of BB King in the full tone he got, but not muddy./quote]

Al, I assume you weren't referring to Muddy Waters!

Great tones anyway, reminded me of early Fleetwood Mac/Peter Green.

Re: Andertons CS JTM145 question

Following advice from Andertons I have changed the pre-amp valves to Tung-Sols and the fault has been cured :Thumbs

Andertons CS JTM145 question

I have an intermittent problem with my amp and would appreciate thoughts on what might be causing it. I played for around 3 hours at the weekend and on at least 4 separate times a loud "popping" sound occurred. This was similar to the sound heard as if a lead had been disconnected from the amp or a ...

Re: AVT50 crushes Egnater Tweaker 15

I used to have an Egnater Tweaker 40 head but struggled to get a good sound from it. I didn't keep it long and sold it to help fund my Andertons CSJTM145.

Re: Primary Rig

I've got both a DGT and an LP and have similar views on them as you. The DGT is a recent addition and I'm very impressed with its versatility as it can cover more bases than the LP, especially with both full humbucker and authentic split coil tones on tap. Of the 2 I still play the LP most but they'...

Re: String gauge change

The dealer has replaced the missing A string. I've sent an email to GHS also, just to make them aware of the problem. I'm not expecting anything from them, but you never know. Al - I presume you were referring to the Gibson event at Peach Guitars in Colchester? I was thinking of going as my 1990 LP ...

Re: String gauge change

Slightly off topic, but I fitted a new set of strings to my LP yesterday. I blindly opened a pack of 9-46 GHS Boomers and didn't notice that it contained 2 low E strings, but no A (36). It wasn't until I started to fit the A string that I realised. The pack was sealed, so obviously a mistake when th...

Re: Doc Holliday NGD

Great guitar Doc and an excellent choice of strap!

Here's my similarly attired 2003 R9. I chose this strap to match the vintage vibe of the LP.

Sully's suggestion of a jam session for LP owning Roadhouse members is a great idea!

Re: Your "Best Rig"

Guitar: 2003 Les Paul R9.

It's the one that suits my playing style best and gives me the most enjoyment.

Amp: Marshall / Andertons CS JTM145.

It's the perfect partner for the LP.

Pedal: Blackstar HT Dual.

Very versatile - from smooth overdrive to full-on high gain.

Re: Switched Strings

For as long as I can remember I've used D'Addario XLs (usually 10s) but decided to give GHS Boomers a try on the last string change for my Les Paul R9. I played the LP for the first time since the change at the weekend and during a 3 hour playing period the strings stayed in tune the whole time. Ver...

Re: Looks like the Class 5 is back in production

I've had a look at the Roulette in my local store. They had one each of the combo and head + cab in AFD style silver. I picked up a Marshall flyer which states that there are 100 each of the combos and 50 each of the stacks. These are cosmetic changes only - disappointingly the low power switch is s...

Re: I guess we now know why doug Aldrich left whitesnake

Coverdale should realise that he just can't cut it singing in this style any more. I reckon he should take a trip down the Paul Rodgers route and try a more soulful blues-rock approach, maybe renewing his partnership with Bernie Marsden from the first version of Whitesnake. Bernie's album "Shine" fr...

Re: My new Taylor 214 nylon acoustic

Great playing as usual Al.

Who'd have thought that Vivaldi would be heard on a Marshall Amps forum!

I've got a Baby Taylor and love it. Agree with Surf that they're the best acoustics currently available.
