Cathode Bias Values?

Hey Folks, While I realize schematics are not yet available for the Astoria, I'm wondering if anyone could confirm the cathode bias configuration? Is each KT66 biased with it's own resistor, or are they biased with a common resistor/capacitor? The reasons I ask are #1> Every data sheet I find for th...

Re: First Versions of 2525 Mini Jubilee vs Studio Version?

I have the first version 2525H. There isn't an effects loop switch. The only thing the footswitch does is change channels. As far as i know the only changes were adding "Studio Jubilee" on the panel. Thanks for that @Cousin Muely . It's kind of what I assumed, although we know how assumptions can b...

First Versions of 2525 Mini Jubilee vs Studio Version?

Does anyone know if there is any operational and/or actual difference between the earlier versions of the Mini Jubilee and when they became part of the Studio Series? I seem to remember some discussion about the power reduction method being different and also seem to recall the effects loop having a...

6V6 In DSL 20?

I know that some of the newer Marshall models with cathode bias EL34 power tubes claim to accept a wide range of octal tubes and I'm wondering if the DSL20 is one of them? I realize that if safe, the 6V6 will only drop the wattage/apparent volume a tiny bit, if at all, but please bear with me on why...

Re: SV, SC, how about a SM

@kot

It sure would be nice to see a schematic of the Silver Jubilee Mini, or even "ANY" of the Studio Series, as opposed to the earlier 1988-ish version for some comparisons! We certainly have no idea how the current 2525 circuitry relates to the schematic posted?

Re: SV, SC, how about a SM

@kot Thanks for sharing that info also! Good stuff to know! I have seen the guts of an ORIGIN 20, while comparing to the newer DSL line. I have not yet actually been inside anything from the Studio Series. I'm wondering if the SJ MINI is done the same way as the SC and SV? Are there actually two ver...

Re: SV, SC, how about a SM

IMO with it's low volume compensation there isn't any need for a 20w version of the 6100, on half power triode mode you are prolly at 35w anyways. just for the sake of a reissue + small form factor, of course. I'd buy it, I think... Yes, I looked at the wiring inside my Marshall JCM800 Studio and c...

Re: It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

Well, my DSL40CR arrived back from the Marshall service center at US MusicCorp. I'm at six hours on and at least half of that time has been spent "poundin' the pee" outa this DSL40CR! No switching glitches yet. Gonna leave it fully on overnight and see if it fooks up! Oh, and FWIW, with the switchin...

Re: It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

Well, The Marshall US service center of USMusicCorp just had my DSL40CR for more than 3 weeks and is finally shipping it back. They say the switching problems were caused by a firm ware issue, but given that those problems only showed up upon the amp being FULLY warmed up, I'm not sure if I'm buyin'...

Re: It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

Well Folks, Marshall, via US MusicCorp, has had this amp for nearly three weeks with a promise of a "quick turn around" and the window for honoring that promise is rapidly closing. I still get no definitive answers and my patience is wearing thin! This kind of "customer service" is progressiing from...

Re: It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

Hope it works out mate! And yeah how you handle customer claims really defines a company and is usally the key to success (more than having no claims at all) Yep! Realistically, it's not possible to manufacture mass quantities of any kind of product without a flaw, here and there. Humans are involv...

Re: It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

Quick Update! The Marshall division of US MusicCorp said they wanted this amp on their bench ASAP and provided expedited shipping to & fro and promise to make it right, quickly! If the amp comes back functioning perfectly and an inspection reveals no "butchery" all will be good! While it's no secret...

Re: It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

Yes, Well, Return/exchange is certainly one option! On the other hand, I've been following this new amp series since it's release and several things pop to mind! I'm actually posting my issues everywhere and looking for some other folks with related issues to sign on to a somewhat scathing/demanding...

It Sucks To Be Right/DSL40CR!

I made a prediction that the main failure/return issue with the DLS40CR would be related to it's "bizarre" switching/foot switching arrangement and now that I have one, I find that I was right! :bitching What really sucks about being right is that everything else about this amp is absolutely gloriou...

Re: Astoria Line: Marshall Made a Massive Blunder!

John, I've skimmed that thread enough to think that I need to have enough time to read and digest it, in it's entirety! With the time amd efforts you've put into it, full attention is warranted and deserved! On the other side of it, I must say that developing my "Full Amp" sound, through just the pr...
