Re: JCM800 2205 1989 Replacement Tubes

I guess it was Blackbacks in the 70's. But that was the regular 1960 cab back then. I jus luuuud dem Blackbacks and Greenbacks and Cremesaucebacks :laugher just kiddin' :beerme I seem to recall playing through a Marshall 4x12" B cabinet that had 35 watt Celestion speakers rated at 140 Watts RMS ver...

Re: Phil Rudd Arrested

If one has money and leverage, there's no limit to the people you can buy off. "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" has to be the mantra running through Phil's mind. Maybe what Phil really needs to concentrate on is being, a spirit in the "material" world.

Re: JCM800 2205 1989 Replacement Tubes

Seems he's using 1960 cabs with 75w speakers. Maybe Greenbacks. Don't think MS is to fuzzy about his gear really. Also in the early UFO years he didn't use a cocked wah wah to get his tone as many seems to think. In the later UFO years and early MSG years he seems to have used the wah wah a lot. Bu...

Re: EQ Settings

I agree with Al, though I am always fond of starting out with the Ace Freley settings as revealed on an episode of "That Metal Show". Straight up 5s all the way across. :metal I believe those are the Angus settings as well. Sledge, I don't think Blues meant any disrespect by his comment. He's proba...

Santiago stated anything under 1.6A - is it OK to use this???

Re: EQ Settings

BTW ClassicRock 88, the Ayan S & S passive pedal that I spoke of is what you need. I get the very strong impression that my advice went in one ear and out the other with the posters on this thread, as no one has even commented about the S & S (prior to my response here). I wouldn't have even offered...

Re: EQ Settings

I set all EQ knobs very low when playing with the band. Bass: 0 Treble & Presence around 2, 3 Middle: this one goes to different settings depending of what lead sound I want to achieve Body = Detail setting -2 I believe that's the Eric Johnson approach isn't it? Delay preamp saturation as long as p...

Re: EQ Settings

for me it just depends on the day,amp tone desired, era of music,song,mood,etc.etc. I do know that I can roll back mids but not forward mid jam. it screws w/ my playing for some reason. :dunno If I vary anything it's my low end, and for the reason ascribed to in my response to ClassicRock 88. Re: '66 Fender Deluxe Reverb

Not dead, just spacious. This is a link to a 65 DR thread that i had worked on for a guy a while back. I really wish he would have let me do more to it but no. http://marshallroadhouse.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17574 When I was younger, more foolish, and less knowledgeable about amps, I'd change out ...
