Re: TC Group bought by Behringer

Yeah, they do have some high end gear. You could not give me any of their guitar pedals. TC is not the TC of old, but then what it is, in this world of cost cut, low pay, outsourcing cheap labor which is not conducive to quality by any means. It's sort of funny the TC toneprint series is basically t...

Re: New Toy.... and rant.

After a time, you will have to come to the realization like I did, the 55 needs a fullrange sound rig as a "guitar amp" with its roll off via design does not fully deliver the goods the unit is truly capable. I really just got into messing with some of the amp COSM modeling. You can get some wicked ...

Re: More info on the Vibe circuit and the TC VV...just FYI

Say chaps, for FYI here is an older review I did of the Deja Vibe MDV3 under another moniker, some of you might find interesting as there is some real history of the circuit in there and some comments from Mike Fuller about how he went about recreating the circuit, culling the bad and expanding the ...

Re: Another Wah Question

Pots do have a lifetime. That is why really old vintage does not appeal to me much. Components also have a lifetime, and they begin to lose their spec'd tolerance. Might be time for a new wah, now there is the $64 question, which one?? For something so simple, it seems you can go through a bunch to ...

Re: Best Vibe ever, TC Electronic Viscous Vibe

It would be hard for me to state anything is the "best" in a particular category. As the chemistry of the rig and the player make for an infinite variability. Much less what one hears and what one likes. I have had a bunch of Vibes and I cannot say any of them just floored me but I stopped at the MD...

Re: TC Group bought by Behringer

Crap. You know I used to really think Behringer was a crap fest el cheapo stuff. But really they do have some higher end gear (not guitar pedals from what I have seen). I got one of their power amps, class D and really it has been a fine amp and the price was silly. I only own one TC pedal these day...

Re: Axe FX Killer?

Personally I am so not into Line6, but Fractal and Kemper are extremely high end quality and tone, if you can afford them, which I cannot.
You could not give me L6 stuff, been there done that, was not anything I would revisit, there is no comparison to the Fractal and the Line6 stuff, zippy dodah.

Re: Best Vibe ever, TC Electronic Viscous Vibe

Just looked it up, it's a digital pedal that mimics the photocell vibe so that being what it is, to each their own taste. Nothing bad about it, and the price is low because of that but if you did an A/B with a Deja or a Prescription Electronics Vibe you could tell there is a difference in the feel a...

Re: NPD catalinbread reverb talisman

Catlinbread is a great line of pedals, dude makes great quality and sounding stuff.
A top pick list in my book. I always have the view if you try a pedal of his and do not like it, it is more a matter of not fitting your playing style or technique than a "bad" pedal. Just FYI.

Re: Do you use a buffer in your chain?

Depends what one means by "color". Personally I pick very transparent drives unless it is a uber gain that, well, yeah colors. I currentky have dual Klon circuits on my board pre and post with that marvelous Klon circuit buffer. Been the best result for me ever. Buffers are essential but one can hav...

Re: can anyone advise?

You sort of have to match the effect loop level to either line or instrument level. Some units can handle line level, others will clip out. Most loops I have run into lately have all been instrument/pedal level which is -10 while line is 3-4db higher. A lot of loops have level adjust toggle or varia...

Re: speaking of delays...

Strymon is the top shelf in all thing delays with Eventide H9, etc and maybe a couple TC models. So many delays out there, probably not a bad one, depends on the money you want to drop. You just cannot go wrong with the best. Catlinbread makes some killer models as well. If you like the tape thing, ...

Re: Kiesel Passive Lithium Pickup - My new favorite.

I have an older DC-400 model. a beauty translucent black stain flame top, that needs some fret dressing, probably try those in it, if they fit. Or at least maybe the bridge. I have an older Carvin SD in the bridge and it always burned, that is the only full size HB guitar I have. My other ones are s...

Re: New Toy.... and rant.

Thanks for everyones input on the GR55, as gor the cost it was 799.00 but I got some other stuff in the purchase also. The main comment was about how cheap everything is and how much you pay for it. Right after Hurricane Katrina I applied for a Music Cares Grant and was approved for a grand and the...

Re: Best Vibe ever, TC Electronic Viscous Vibe

Yeah, but that is really not how Pagey and others have used a Leslie for that fast spin solo thing that nothing else really does. It does not lose control of the tone. Some use a chorus or a vibe really fast and I have never been able to really use that sort of out of control modulation to be very m...
