Re: 84 JCM800 4010

I did some mods, i prefer this grill cloth over the black one, and i put two 1 ohm resistors on the el 34 sockets for biasing the amp . I also change the tap for nfb from 4ohms to 8ohms, the amp is more controlable and sweeter like this i feel . It's really a nice amp and i manage to have good tone ...

Re: 84 JCM800 4010

Thanks :Cheers ! Yes the g12t75 in this amp sounds really nice, not scoop at all . Some say it's an improved g12-65 with just a different thing wich result in 10w more in handling power . There's some minors fixes i did, the resistor before the gain pot was 720 k, i replace with a 470 k, the speaker...

84 JCM800 4010

After Marshall released the Studio serie, i went to check them out on a shop at Lille . I found that i prefered the SC over the SV and i was ready to pull the triger ... My absolut dream would be a 4010 combo but i never had a chance to found one not too far away so i thought the SC would be a good ...

Re: Marshall Vintage modern 1987 preamp

Yes you're right of course but i think that's the sag occurs at full throttle when the power supplie don't manage to provide the expected current on time . In fact my amp is now closer to a jtm45/100 but with only two power valves and less current on the plates (440 volts vs 560 volts for the jtm45/...

Re: Marshall Vintage modern 1987 preamp

Hi machinegun1, the choke is 116ohms . The amp is really quiet and it feels a lot spongier and bluesy now . I think the choke is an improvement but with the previous mods it wasn't great, the resistor was better . Now with the exact topology of the JTM45, except for the ppimv, it sounds really good .

Re: Marshall Vintage modern 1987 preamp

For those who follow this thread, i reworked the preamp to be a clone of a jtm45 . Shared cathode, 270k mixers resistor, slope resistor and treble cap, 27k NFB ..ect .., I think it gonna stay like this for a while . I've shorted the mid boost that's i never use and i think i will use the switch for ...
