Re: Incoming 6100LM

FWIW/PSA: you can get 6N4J chinese preamp tubes with square-getters (the tubes the amp came with) for like $8 each on Aliexpress. Although it might take a couple weeks to ship to the US. They are at the other end of the 12AX7 spectrum as the JJs. :Thumbs Well damn, I just checked and they have dried...

Re: Time

We used to do Breathe...then the drums started Time (no tick-tock/alarms)...then at the end if Time it goes back into Breathe and ends normally. Two of my favorite PF songs although...there are a LOT! :Cheers

Re: 6100 LE Repair.

Hey Anitoli, When I look ay my LM guts it looks like some of the sockets have zero solder on them while others have obvious solder. Is that normal? Amp seems to work fine but just looked strange. There are quite a few of them. Here's a few pics. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n4/mtbucket_2006/48...

Re: Advice on selling gear...

ebay recently dropped their rates to be more in-line with Reverb. For stuff that I wouldn't want to ship, like that combo, I'd do craigslist. I've done many deals and most people are a bit uneasy so often you have two people thinking the other is gonna ass-rape them and act weird. Never had a bad de...

NCD 80s 1960A w/ vented G12T-75s

Been wanting one of these for a while, pretty much exactly like this. Sounds great with my 6100LM. Higher gain rhythm tones are where it's at with this cab. A liitle more sizzle than my early 70s greenback cab and bigger/tighter bass. But still lots of crunchy mids in there. Any difference between t...

Re: Best overall speaker for the Marshall 50th anniversary serie

Just my opinion but G12M is what almost always delivers the Marshall tones I like. I like other speakers in other applications but it always comes back to G12M with Marshalls for me. Older ones if you find them but IMLE the plain ole Greenback sounds as good or better than the Heritage models. I've ...

Re: 6100 Content

Considering all that went into these amps and all the features and the fact that they sound so good, the prices they are going for is crazy. A 6100LM wasn't even on my radar screen until I saw one on CL for sooooo cheap I couldn't resist. Anybody know how many were made? Seems like it would be a tin...

Re: New 6100 owner, mods in mind

Come to think of it, one thing I wanted to try but never did was to put the EQ in the loop (series mode) and see if that made a difference. Since I leave the EQ on all the time maybe that would buffer it. But since the Line OUT/IN work so well I haven't really pursued it any further. I tried just ab...

Re: New 6100 owner, mods in mind

If I'm willing to deal with a little extra complexity I run 2 loops. The delay goes in the regular loop (parallel mode) and the EQ-Tuner-Boost go in the Line Out/Line In. But I usually just put it all in the Line Out/Line In loop (EQ-Delay-Tuner-Boost). I never really went any further investigating ...

Re: Selling can be as hairy as buying - rant content

I've always thought of selling as at least 2x worse than buying. Ebay/Reverb/Paypal will protect the buyer to a point but many times the seller is screwed. And then there is the shipping. The carriers basically don't pay insurance claims by saying "you didn't pack it well enough". So wtf am I buying...

Re: NAD : JTM145 and possible problem

Just to try and eliminate the easy things, is it possible just moving the amp away from a potential noise source would help? I work on my amps on a kitchen counter and that one spot in my house picks up a strange high pitched ringing (unknown source). I was pulling my hair out...until I just moved t...

Re: Any Lehle Amp Switcher Users?

These are overkill and pretty expensive here in US but supposed to be really good. They have the ability to share the same fx loop between amps. Thought I'd post it just in case.

That's what I did first, before I even tried to use it with effects. Just to kind of see where it's at. Same thing.
