Re: Best Overdrive Pedal with 2466??

My VM is a 2266 combo. It loves my overdrives! The three that I like best include a Boss OD-3 and a Digitech Hardwire CM-2. Both feed in some boost and drive that mesh very nicely with the amp tones. Also, a Marshall Guv"nor, which adds a JCM style of drive.

Awesome! I loved hearing and seeing those videos. Looks like you guys do really great old-school rock show. Great guitar work but you all sound fantastic and props to your front-man too. Those songs are not easy to sing as well as that!

Well there's a few things to tell you about.

Re: Anyway to Convert The Power Reduction to 1/2 power?

How about rig up a dummy load to absorb half the power? Plug that and the cab into the amp socket of half the cab Ohms. The load can be made reactive, using a coil, so tone is preserved. I have tested designs if interested.

Re: Aluminum Speaker wire.

Aluminium and copper are both great conductors of heat and of electricity. The physics of these is realted. But copper is better for each.

And you can't solder normally to Aluminium, so I can't see why to use it.

Re: 1 watt Vintage Modern Anniversary - yay or nay?

I love the VM's and I have exactly your amp, a black 2266c! But, Id say 'nay' to a 1W version, because what you really need is the reactive attenuator that I worked out specifically for our amp! It preserves tone at any volume, based on very careful measurements analysis and testing with my VM. http...

Re: The American Election

I've got a bit more perspective than most from overseas. I lived in LA for 5 years, and also worked on construction projects in Wisconsin, Texas and Kansas. My daughter is a US citizen. Big differences in peoples perspectives between the coasts and the mid-west. Mr T, self-centered bully though he i...

Re: The American Election

From other countries it looks like the US gets zero unbiased news information from any media. All news is filtered either to the left or the right depending where you look. As for voter fraud, we hear all these claims. Havent seen one piece of hard evidence yet. Most of the rest of the world despise...

Re: perhaps a little too bright

If your VM issue is that the tone sounds great turned up but gets a bit thinner than you want at home volume, then I can totally relate to that. In case it helps, that has led me on a journey designing attenuators, and where it ended up was a range of easy to build designs for a reactive attenuator....

Re: LDR - more distortion expected?

Hi @HF1600ie If it helps, I'm happy to try a few tests on my VM combo, if you could describe exactly what you'd like me to try. I use a string of all true-bypass (Hardwire) pedals in my loop, using the hi +4db setting. So when they are all off then I am effectively just passively patching send to re...
