I’ve never liked V30’s in the combo amps that I’ve owned. I imagine they are better suited for enclosed 4x12.
Yes. Every speaker I’ve tried sounded better in a closed back.

Re: I just can’t warm up to the 425A

Well, I fixed my 425A a few days ago. Here’s how I did it:

It’s such an amazing improvement in tone. The 2466 really came alive with the Vintage 30 speakers.

Oh, I did catch the out of phase wiring on the right side. :D

Re: I just can’t warm up to the 425A

I guess the point is the G12C doesn’t sound like a G12M.

I swapped two G12Ms into my 425A and proved it. I think the G12C are going on reverb.

That’s just using the iPhone microphone, in the room the difference is more prominent.

I just can’t warm up to the 425A

I’ve read here and elsewhere that the 2466 really shines when you play it through the 425A cabinet and that the G12C speakers are just like greenbacks. This made me want a 425A (well, i actually wanted a 425B but I’ve never actually seen one, do they exist?). When I finally found one and picked it u...

I think that is as close as you are going to get.
Thanks. I got a swatch of it. It's not a good match. I'm going to end up just living with the torn tolex.

Re: What speaker are you using in your DSL40C?

I plug my DSL40C into an oversized 2x12 with vintage greenbacks in it. Classic Crunch is where it’s at, bros.

Re: 2007 2466 Vintage Modern Low/High Range switch issue

I went through the same thing with my 2466. I bought mine from GC and it came with the wrong footswitch. I almost didn’t buy it because I thought the switching was broken. Then I realized the latching footswitch should be a momentary. I tried both normally closed and normally open (unfortunately in ...

If looks are important to you then hold out until you can find a 425 cabinet in great condition.
They seem to be about as common as hens teeth and when they do come up they’re understandably local pickup only and on Guam. ;)

Thanks for the lead on the replacement tolex.

Has anyone replaced tolex on a 425a?

I have a chance to pick up a 425a but I'm not sure on it's condition. Had anyone ever been able to find an accurate replacement for the purple tolex?

Bias 2466. Do I have to get the sides closer?

When I bias my DSL I have two trim pots and getting the mA/mV close to the same value seems to lower the noise that's there when they are farther apart. On the 2466 there is only one and I can get both between the 72-80 mV but the values are at either end, one side is near 80 and the other is near 7...

Re: 2466 club

Awesome! I just picked one up in January. I almost didn't buy it because it had the wrong foot switch. The channel switch must be a momentary. Having to press the switch twice to make it switch channels made me think it was broken until I thought about it. I went back the next day and got it. I did ...
