Re: perhaps a little too bright

Also my guitar is pretty bright naturally. I have to run the treble below noon on any amp I’ve played it through.

Re: perhaps a little too bright

Yeah I learned that the amp thickens up significantly with volume but still is a bit piercing. It could be that my speakers are not broken in. I’m not stressing now because I’ve been playing my Jubilee which has the sound I’ve been craving.

Normal. Roll the guitar volume down before you turn off the standby and you'll never hear the fade out again.
Thanks! It doesn’t bother me I just wasn’t sure if it was normal or a sign of a problem since none of my other tube amps acted that way.

Standby switch question

I just want some expert advice on this. When I switch the amp into standby it takes a second for the sound to fade, which seems normal compared to other tube amps I’ve owned. But what seems different is when I switch the amp off it goes back to full volume and starts to fade out...is this normal or ...

Re: perhaps a little too bright

I'll give those tubes a try. If that doesn't do it, I may Try the Mod Steve mentioned. The guy who tried it said it made it thicker sounding and more mid rangy, worth a shot

Re: perhaps a little too bright

Re: perhaps a little too bright

Well I did manage to get it sorted out however, I’m running the amps treble at 0 and mids about 3 and bass about 2. This really smoothed it out nicely m. Just seems weird that if I add any more treble or mids to it then it seems to have a brittle and harsh sound. I’m convinced it has to be the amp n...

Re: perhaps a little too bright

I noticed today that it seems to thicken up a lot better with the master volume above noon. So I guess this amp just needs to be cranked for it’s true personality to show.

Re: perhaps a little too bright

I have golden lions in it at the moment, I was just saying I have a set of jj that came with it as a spare set but I don't plan on using them. I think I figured out the base problem though, I installed a faber bridge and im pretty sure I just need to get the saddles cut better. I feel like those sad...

Re: perhaps a little too bright

so I rechecked my bias and it seems to have either drifted or maybe last time I just didn't give it enough time to settle because I had set it to right at 80 and this time it was at about 72.5-73 even after warming up for 20 mins. so I set it back to 80 and the tone seems to have improved, still has...

Re: perhaps a little too bright

I’m using the matching cab. I have my les Paul wired 50’s style. I’d have to look at my caps but I’m pretty sure it’s .022 on the bridge and .015 for the. Neck with Russian PIO caps. Yes rolling the treble down on my guitar does tame it but by the time the harshness is gone then I have lost a lot of...

perhaps a little too bright

Any of you had this problem? my 2466 is extremely trebly even with the mids and treble toned way back to like 2 or 3. any lower than that sounds like a blanket over the cab and any higher and it feels like its slicking through me haha, I play a les paul with seth lover pickups, the neck sounds nice ...

Re: 2466 club

Got the matching cab today and man what a difference in tone it makes! The shrill top end is gone and was replaced by more singing top end and buttery smooth mids. Even at very low volume it still sounds sweet.

Re: 2466 club

yeah I'm already used to that style of playing I have always used old school amps and 50's wiring so that's nothing new. now I just need to get back into a band setting so I can crank this thing and let it breathe properly

Re: 2466 club

I mostly just want a matching cab but if it ends up sounding better than that's just an added bonus
