Re: Weird Oscillation?

I thought about the standby switch I think it would have to be something else. Steve D would have a better idea as to where to look next. Was the amp working before your mods? You can use a voltmeter to test along the signal path. But you have to know the resistance of each component and see if the...

Re: Weird Oscillation?

The forum is under repair. Read Surf's post. As for your amp, how did it sound before the maintenance? From the sound of your video it is hard to tell what it could be. Not familiar with some of your modifications. If it is not tube related then something is creating interference with the signal pa...

Weird Oscillation?

Hi, I did the maintenance on a mid 70's 2203. - 6 filters caps - 2 Bias Caps - Add 1ohm resistor on each power tube socket for bias setting - Changed all the pots - Changed 3 preamp tube sockets - Relocate the 68k directly to the socket tube - Relocate the NFB on 8 Ohms instead of 4 Ohms - Put a shi...

Re: Convert LDR to 2203 and HDR to Hi-Gain 2203

I bought a bunch of parts to test them and keep the result to myself.

Thanks anyway

Re: Convert LDR to 2203 and HDR to Hi-Gain 2203

Interesting I mostly use a Strat. But also use an acoustic with onboard preamp. On occasion an Ibanez with Seymour Duncan humbuckers. My V M is a 2266c. I have never felt the tone to be muddy! Are you using Vintage Modern greenbacks? It seems to me a lot of time and effort to extensively mod the am...

Re: Convert LDR to 2203 and HDR to Hi-Gain 2203

I may be wrong but my understanding is the VM is a modification of the JH 100 circuit which would make it closer to a 1959 than a 2203 circuit. Getting this amp closer to 2203 specs may require some serious re-engineering that may or may not prove successful. The VM is a great amp as is but if you ...

Re: Convert LDR to 2203 and HDR to Hi-Gain 2203

Ok, So I check all the data that I could. On the Twango mod he put a 820r on R4 (V1a) that is Detail Volume or High I input in Plexi, but on Plexi 820 is on V1a too but it's Low II Input. So I might go with 2K7 instead and put the 820 on V1b with 25uf to cut some mud. JMP 2203 had 50+50uf filter cap...

Convert LDR to 2203 and HDR to Hi-Gain 2203

Hi, I bought a VM 2466 in November 21 because I needed an amp, and this one was fairly cheap (I use to make my own amp, but for budget I rather bought this one). Changed the tubes and fix some issues too. It sound good, but too muddy to me, like playing a Stiff Upper Lip album song is impossible bec...
